Winterfest has come to Spiral Knights and the new mission to grinchlin's hidout is so hard. Is there any strategy you guys can tell me so I can at least survive a couple times. I rather not use my sparks of life more time than need.

I feel lag, not server's fault

I played on Normal first and Solo-ed.
Own a Ctr Max, Dmg Ultra Nitrome + Dmg Max GF
Everything went well until the last Arena ( almost got the lastest Battle Pot but lag caught me )
Waste <20 Sparks ( mostly at the last fight with lag )
[Fail]
I recommend doing first floor, first arena, first elevator you see =c
( get around 1-3 needed materials )

Get a full party of competent friends, as much damage output as you can stack, as much health as you can get, completely neglect defense (too many types to worry about), bring at least a sword and a gun, and work out a strategy with your friends that involves everyone working together to make sure not everyone dies horribly over and over and over again. Also remember that while the gremlins are plentiful they are not very strong, and elemental brandishes still kill them pretty quickly.

Practice makes perfect, mate.

Practice makes perfect, mate. Do the first level as many times as you can, just test it out, know how things work, and continue to repeat that first level, over and over, until you can finally play it without using up too many sparks. This is how Firestorm Citadel, the hardest content of Spiral Knights, was mastered, through repetitive playing. Once you know the ropes, things are smooth and easy to work with. Once you can do the first level without dying dozens of times, to a decent, manageable amount, go down to the second floor, and start the whole process, again! You should bring a skilled team, don't get hooked up with inexperienced players with that content, or you'll be left as that last Knight standing. It's more about making us, the players, become handicapped for the monsters lol

The situation that we're put in to fight the monsters, the type of area and environment conditions, are brutal for first timers. Experience and knowledge with that prestige mission will ensure survivability.

I only played the mission once quickly this morning, and it looked basically the same as last year. Where are these arenas you are talking about? How do you get to them? Can you provide some screenshots?

He means the gremlin danger mission not the present grabbing one, and it is probably the most challenging thing in SK. It's not about surviving, you literally have to spark of life over power the boss while avoiding swarms of dangerous enemies(hammer gremlins, greavors, two FSC gun puppies, a mendor that heals very fast), well on elite at least. And dont get me started on the horrible constant lag.
