This has been suggested before but i couldnt find the thread to bump it. Currently the auction house says short, medium, long for the 'Time Left' column of items. Please make the time more specific, preferrably in the format 1d 13h 25m, it has the same character count as 'Very Short' so widths would not need to be changed. With the current system, if the time left is short, someone would have to check the auction house every 5 mins, if it was medium, they would need to check the auction at least every hour... it is annoying.

I cant think of why it is the way it is; maybe because people may play the game more if they are having to check the auction house constantly.

If you are looking for an old post, then just use google to do a quick search for the topic. It's fast, easy, and best of all you don't flood the forums with multiple posts of the same topic needlessly.

As for the OP, Auction house times are not exact so that people don't wait until the last 1-2 seconds to post a bid and raise the bid price infinitesimally. If you want to take the risk and bid on something, then you should put in the time and wait on the auction instead of taking the easy way out and waiting until that last moment to bid.

It's a game, its meant to be

It's a game, its meant to be easy, watching auctions is hardly fun. With the current system, either someone puts an insanely high bid way more than the item is worth (and there still is no garuntee that the someone else wont outbid you last minute), or sit there checking the auction every 5 minutes for an hour.

I am pretty sure if they changed the auction times, people would get the most money for their items, not less.

Perhaps makes it count down the time until it reaches 30 minutes and then just leave us with short for 25 minutes and very short for 5 minutes, with bids still increasing the time if it's very short. Basically, stop telling us the actual time left when it goes under 30 minutes. That way, we get the benefit of it, but you can't bid when you have 3 seconds left, because you don't know.

my 2 cents

@Aotr so Diablo II and Diablo III are kids game?

didn't knew...

Side note: I can already snipe items within a minute before time end with basic math. What this mean is stay at school kids. Math is important, lazyness will get you nowhere.

Short = 1 hour to 5 minutes
Medium = 1h to 4h

Basically when your items is in medium, you can trace where medium items start (let's say page 7) and that the last medium item is at page 33 on the overall list.

Your item is in the begining of page 9

now we have all our numbers, let's do some basic math!

33-7 = 26

page 9 is actually number 3 if you count 7 as number 1, so page 8 is number 2, page 9 is number 3

So you are 3/26th of the way till your items hit 1 hour.

3/26 out of 3 hours (+ 1 hour of short) is roughly 1 hour and 40 minutes

Basic math!

And now... go snipe some items ;)

It's a game, its meant to be easy

I want to slap you so hard just for saying that. The fact that the game is too easy already is the EXACT REASON that so many people are quitting. Games are not meant to be easy. In fact, they are MEANT to be hard, to provide a challenge for the player so that they have a reason to continue playing it. If you want an easy game, go play tic-tac-toe. And even then, there is a lot of psychological difficulty when playing against another person. I could go on, but then we would be getting into a whole other situation where the results are that I'm banned from the forums.

...Now that I'm done with my rant, back to the topic at hand. Doing something like what Mushy said might be ok. It would be a nice compromise without ruining the bidding system. But bidding on the auction house requires skill in and of itself, so it really isn't something for the light of heart. If you find that you are not winning auctions enough, I recommend not to bid unless you have enough money to buy it outright. When the time gets to very short, there is a bidding war going on, and the price is getting dangerously close to the b/o price, just buy it. It saves time, and guarantees that you get the item.

You dont know why people are

You dont know why people are quitting; or even if they are quitting. Most games cant be played forever, people get bored and move onto something else. Frustrating people with the auction house making them sit there staring at it is really gonna encourage people to stay in the game? I cant think of any other game that has auction times the way it is, most games have specific times; but hey, maybe they missed a trick.

I dont understand why someone would be against it, unless you had something to gain from it, maybe you watch auctions because its such a challenge and dont want the extra competition?

People are quitting. Yes, we do know. It's for two main reasons:
1. The game is too easy.
2. There's not enough Radiants, so people are quitting because they can't play anymore.

-1 to Auction House times. I prefer not getting sniped on a rare that may not come up for a couple month just because someone can grab in the last few seconds (not that that doesn't happen already).

gods ain't gonna help you, son.

Most games cant be played forever, people get bored and move onto something else

that happens in two ways: because you can blaze through the game without a scratch (game too easy, gets boring fast) or because you cannot advance (game too hard, gets frustrating fast). is the game too hard?
besides, if games are meant to be easy, all major games would be idle games.

I have about 5 friends that I know personally that have quit the game because it was getting too easy/boring, so yes I do know for a fact why people are quitting the game.

You said it yourself. A game gets boring because of repetition, which is a result of an easy game with lots of monotonous grinding. Funny how you just contradicted yourself there.

Frustrating people with the auction house making them sit there staring at it is really gonna encourage people to stay in the game?

Do people play this game solely for the purpose of buying things off auction house? I wasn't aware that the name of the game changed to Bidding Knights. And I just told you a good way on how to be better at auctions, as did some of the other posters so you don't have to be sitting there all day.

I dont understand why someone would be against it, unless you had something to gain from it, maybe you watch auctions because its such a challenge and dont want the extra competition?

We are against it because it is not that good of an idea. Don't just assume that all your ideas are perfect and everyone will go along with it, that would be incredibly conceded and self righteous. And I don't even use the auction house that much. I craft all my weapons from scratch, and prefer to buy my costumes and accessories directly from players. So your personal attack holds no weight.
