I spent every last one of my Sparks on this STUPID new mission, and didn't even get anything at all. Keep in mind this was on Normal difficulty with 5* gear, a team, and the right gear. Screw you OOO, you're ruining my Christmas.
I'm done.
Did you try to organize fight?
Did you take into account that there is fire and ice status in that level? How can you have the "right gear?"
Is your team competent?
How many spark are we talking about? 10? 20? 200?
If you bomb rushed it and died, you shouldn't blame OOO for going head first and not trying to improve your strategy to beat it. You beat yourself
you know, you aren't compelled to play that mission. also, what is your "right gear"?
"Pretty sure the Trinket only drops on Elite difficulty."
There have been people who've claimed that some dropped on Advanced.
It is supposed to be hard for a reason. If you're having a bad day; don't take it out on us.
Look, look. Let's sit down, drink some eggnog, and talk about our feelings. How about that?
I spent every last one of my Sparks on this STUPID new mission
Nobody ask you to use your sparks.
and didn't even get anything at all
You get material, crowns, and heat. So you are wrong. Oh or maybe you not able to finish the last arena.
Keep in mind this was on Normal difficulty with 5* gear, a team, and the right gear
You didn't say that you have skill, so it's not surprising that you lose.
Screw you OOO, you're ruining my Christmas
I suggest you to play, Hello Kitty
"Pretty sure the Trinket only drops on Elite difficulty."
Milk-Frog is intrigued. Tell me more about this "Trinket".
If you read the Winterfest Announcement, the boxes have a chance of dropping two 4* Trinkets, the Golden Solstice Ring or Silver Solstice Ring. If you have both, you can Craft them into the Grand Solstice Ring.
HOWEVER, the Grand Solstice Ring cannot be Crafted, because no Alchemy Machine has the ability to do so. Someone mentioned that a GM has taken note of this & the Grand Solstice Ring will be available soon.
They are both 4* Trinkets that give Low Fire & Freeze Resist & +1 Health.
EDIT: What is this, "Snipe Bitsbee Day?"
Graveyard it! quick! Before Bitsbee seeks revenge!
Screw you OOO, you're ruining my Christmas.
I find it laughable that people have such a great lacking in the ability to control their own hormone releases that they can so nonchalantly point the finger at other people for making them feel miserable.
Did ze Fräuleins have zeir Mittelschmerz?
I solod the mission on elite and only used 7 sparks my first time... With Jurgen and Sirstorm with me I only used 3 my 2nd time... is it really that bad?
But good Lord, 200 lump of coals for the shivermist reskin? No thanks.
YAY!!! Good job Spiral Knights. What a wonderful community you are.
Welcome to the guaranteed death of an online game Fdliyerz. You aren't the only one feeling this. Many are complaining about this and leaving over it. But don't worry, they'll be attacked like there's something wrong with them. You know, they're crappy game players and have no character along with all the other insults that will be hurled by that small group of elitists who are trying to be forum king. The numbers using the forum is shrinking. The numbers using the game is shrinking. You see, as more and more people are pushed away from the game, there is left a small number who replay and replay at ad nauseam. Usually a game gets harder as we advance. But when one stops advancing and they redo and redo, it gets easier and easier until they can almost do it without looking. They start whining in game and on the forum that the game is too easy. They act up on the forum and crap on each other so the game makers here have responded. They're making the game harder to accommodate a few. We've seen it in the normal, advanced and elite difficulty modes being put it place. We've seen the hardness level of events change mid-event. Yes, they are making it harder. They fail to see people leaving one by one over this. They also fail to see that it's a major wall for the new user. They are being prevented from starting. Could you imagine what it must be like for a noob to go get clobbered and killed by the floor entrance. When those who spam the game to death and get it made harder and harder for them leave there's no new users coming in to keep the game alive. Game over, servers cost money.
The forum, I mentioned it's shrinking. This very much effects things and can help that death even speed it along. If a site allows a beehive to set up on it's forum it will start stinging. Good users will run from it. It leaves the nasty bees who are the only ones the makers see and the makers try to keep it's users happy. What they demand and make the most noise over isn't necessarily in the best interest of the game, heck most of them are little kids, but they will get what they want. They don't care if everyone else leaves so they get it. In a way, the game makers who are adults and well educated professionals allow children to run their business for them. Anyway, those considering starting on a new game do read the game's forum before investing time, effort, emotions and money in a game. If they see nastiness, negativity and things being posted about how the users hate the game, what the makers are doing to their game etc, they won't play there again blocking the noob from starting. When the bees leave and no one is starting, game over. Servers cost money.
You're not alone. Everyday more are leaving. The game is being made harder and harder for a small few with nothing else to do and who can't progress in their games. Everyday more are leaving the forum. The site allows insults, attacks, harassment and trolling. On the flip side, you can mess with them. The site allows that too. Just watch out for the random, occasional sweep when they hammer all right or wrong.
The game is being made harder and harder for a small few with nothing else to do and who can't progress in their games.
please back this up.
if you refer to the radiant drought, nobody, repeat, NOBODY wanted that. there were some that wanted shinings even though you could get them into the arcade, but none of them said that they didn't need radiants after the prices were made clear. the only ones who were not affected were the ones with all the 5* gear they wanted, and are still unaffected by the drought.
Everyday more are leaving
Everyday more are joining
Out with the old, in with the new.
When you come to understand that, you'll understand this game.
There's no space in this game for braindead veterens (or mid-late game players) who think they deserve everything on a silver platter simply because they're here longer. Once you've played all the easy content, you've got two choices: find new ways to replay the easy content, or get better to play the hard content.
If you want to stay in the game past your use-by date, you better either harden up, or get creative.
But when the game keeps being made harder for a small group of old, the new get clobbered and quit shortly after starting. It wasn't that long ago the old wanted to take back the user names of all of those who quit shortly after starting, to use for their alts and name changes. Few or no actually join. And many in the middle flea. The game dies. "When you come to understand that, you'll understand this game."
Edit to add.
OOO's, who is allowing children to run the business of Spiral Knights and tolerating bad behavior within the Spiral Knight community, is ruining a game I used to love.
But when the game keeps being made harder for a small group
back that up.
They are nifty things called booster. I heard they are a bit powerful.
So..
the new get clobbered and quit shortly after starting
I strongly disagree. Early game has been made far more smoother (Not to mention far more eye-candy) for new players. Start up a new character and prove me wrong. Ever since the Rescue Camp overhaul and the Tier 1 Equipment Rebalance was implemented, a lot of effort goes into making the early game into a bigger hook. The Ancient Generator has seen quite a few changes over the last few months, to name one. Mission 1-1 and The Crash Site have been altered multiple times, and these are just the things that I've noticed.
I'm pretty sure other early missions have been tweaked too, the most noticeably being the Battle Sprite missions being added very early game instead of later. With the implementation of the Normal difficulty mode, Tier 1 and early Tier 2 players can have be challenged or breeze through as they see fit.
There's a bit of grinding that takes place in later Tier 2, but that's necessary recoil from the Mist Tank removal. Regardless, you can get free 3 Star Brute Jelly or Quicksilver by playing through the respective missions enough on normal, as well as the Sealed Sword and Antigua, so there are easy alternatives to getting past 3 star Hall of Heroes.
Yes, how dare they make optional content that is geared towards high-end players who desire a challenge, a challenge which punishes the greedy for playing past their skill cap?
Ho hum indeed.
Its like for some bizarre reason, people dont realise that they shouldn't be doing a level that they keep getting KO'd in.
On par with the difficulty of the other danger missions. How many players could run a smooth no-death run of the danger missions 3 days after the release?
Few. How many players still die on these standard danger missions? Plenty. If the regular danger missions are a breeze for you, this event danger mission is about on par with the difficulty - but none have month-old fully developed strategies for it yet.
I have a good danger mission team that transitioned and disassembled this new danger mission quite easily. We've gotten to the point of averaging 0-1 revs per player on elite now. There's a lot of things that can make the mission easier such as spawn controlling. That being said, I've spent less than 100* of my formerly >600 sparks doing this mission enough times to already have 2 reskinned weapons and 1 trinket (have the mats for a 3rd reskin, but dont have the need/want for it).
I hope they don't reduce the difficulty of this mission. The people with the reskinned weapons either show that they either have the skill to play the danger mission in the short time it is active or they can spend the large amount of crowns to buy them from someone who can.
*Note total spark count is close to 70 used, with ~30 being used on the first 2 runs on elite because I revved everyone (I invited them on the primary runs even though they wanted to wait for the initial strategies). Past that I can estimate with the number of giftwraps I have that I have done about 30 runs total.
Best strategy:
Two guys stand outside area distracting the monsters. Two guys inside attacking the Battlepod. One guy has blitz and the other guy has venom veiler. Also, they should attack in the middle so that the rocket puppies can't see them. My team failed at that. -_-
I spent 5 SoLs (4 at the last boss alone) on my very first run on elite, and averaging 1-2 SoLs per run now (usually 1 in the levels and 1 at the boss). I haven't played much either, only 3/4 of the way to getting the first reskin. And there are a lot of people with less lag, better gear, and are more skilled.
nobody is forcing under-skilled players to play every mission / level. maybe this mission and a couple others just aren't your type or your cup of tea. some others may welcome the challenge though, i hope you can see the fairness in having options available to people in gaming.
it's just frustated that he cannot conquer something in the game. I know cause I have that feel too after getting killed at the second arena of the mission over and over again.
"Two guys inside attacking the Battlepod. One guy has blitz and the other guy has venom veiler. Also, they should attack in the middle so that the rocket puppies can't see them. My team failed at that. -_-
Everyone thinks that they are immune to the rocket puppies, so they ignore them. They ignore the menders, too. And then people wonder why everyone's lying dead, next to each other, while the Battlepod still hasn't been taken out.
The problem is respawning- the tactic that I've used to win is to hide until the pod is ready for damage; move in and kill it.
I enjoy getting rolled over by the wheels...
[For the sake of not making this post completely pointless] If you really are unable to finish the mission without burning up Vog-knows-how-many-SoLs then the simple solution would be either.
1) Not to do it, it's past your skill level, that, or your internet goes bonkers every time 100 wheels come rolling down
2) Get a (dare I say it) party that has more...suitable...players? /shrug
Think of it this way, unless there is a new animation for the reskins, no one is gonna notice them anyways, well, that's just in my case...It takes me a long time to notice that that one person in my team who's carrying a rather peculiar looking "Leviathan Blade"...might actually be carrying a pair of Scissor Blades
And yet again, OP disappears into the night, completely forgetting about their own Thread, & going about their day.

Congratulations Bitsbee. Here, have a non-existent cookie and a non-existent glass of eggnog.
you're ruining my Christmas
Ah, this old thing again? Number one, not everyone celebrates Christmas.
Fox News: SANDY HERE IS OPPRESSING CHRISTIANS
Shut up Fox. No one knows what you even say.
Keep in mind this was on Normal difficulty with 5* gear, a team, and the right gear.
A team? Usually the team is what kills me. Right gear? Did you, say, bring combat skills? Oh 5* gear. Like that makes any difference. For all I know you insisted on bringing an Iron Slug and a Callahan with Poison resist trinkets. Considering your posts intellectual quality, I was inclined to have doubts on what you considered to be "right" gear.
I don't want a lot this Christmas, there is just one thing I need, I don't care about the presents, underneath the Christmas tree, I just want them for my own, more than you could ever know, make my wish come true, forumers, all I want for Christmas~, is, for-everyone-who-is-complaining-about-their-Christmas-being-ruined-to-stop-complaining-thank-you-have-a-cherry-love-you ^.^
Pretty sure the Trinket only drops on Elite difficulty.
The mission is definitely hard but is actually moderately fun once you know how to correctly tackle it. The mission is more about control than anything else. Still doesn't excuse the insanely cheap boss fight.
