Plans that you organize with your party, only for them to not listen at all or they are idiots, and completely ruining the plan or even worse, cause the party to wipe.

I came up with a tactic that could of made the boss at the end of Grinchlins Assault a pushover. tried it first time with my guildmates, works wonders. 2nd time? Completely destroyed by a pub party, who didn't listen and just went right for the boss, dragging some of the minions with them and the dreaded shadowmanes.

Now, if you want to know my tactic, here it is:

You MUST bring a Shivermist Buster (Or it's reskin if you got that already) in order for this to work. If you can although not needed, try to bring a weapon that can attack rapidly, such as an Antigua line.

Some of you may have not noticed, but most of the monsters are are not immune to freeze even though the mission looks very freeze themed layout wise. The only expections are some of the constructs at the summit, and some of the freeze slimes. This still makes Shivermist Buster and it's reskin useful in the mission.

Now you must be wondering why this might be good for the boss? Well, i am going to tell you right now:

Right at the start of the fight, have everyone stack up near or on top the party button for about 10-20 seconds, this will draw all the monsters in.

You want your shiver bomber to freeze them all constantly, once all the monsters have been frozen. You want everyone but the shiver bomber to go attack the boss but do make sure to constantly kill the rocket puppies, although they respawn, they take awhile to do so.

If you can, try to know the timer when the bosses shield goes down. If you can do that, kill the rocket puppies right as it drops or right after it drops, that way you don't need to avoid their rockets while nuking the boss. If you brought a weapon that can attack rapidly such as an Antigua line, you can constantly shoot the shield barriers on the boss to bring them down quickly. the barrier shields take hits, not damage, like in the mario/zelda/sonic games.

For your shiver bomber, you have 3 things you have to deal with by yourself:
The freeze gun puppies (unless you want someone to deal with them)
The bosses missile barrage AoE attack.
Ranged attack of some of the monsters.

For the freeze puppies, you could have someone kill them constantly to make your bombers job easier. Or if your bomber is good at dodging, you can leave them up. The latter also applies to the monsters with ranged attacks. Try to dodge them the best you can.

Because the bosses missile barrage AoE comes in so often, you will have a much harder time to constantly shiv when it comes in, as the missiles are two explosions instead of one. One explosion follows up right after the missiles lands and explodes. You could try to dodge it, but you will likely have to remain in one spot to do so, making you a easy target for the gun puppies and the monsters with ranged attacks. If you have Seraphynx however, you could pop the bubble shield one after another. such as:

S = Shield
D = Dodge

S - D - S - D - S - D

Should this tactic work, then gg, boss dead, happy loots.

EDIT: Steam Version. This ones more detailed and explained.

Love it, thanks for the great strategy. If the boss takes hits instead of damage, wouldnt a blitz also be a viable option as long as the rocket puppies aren't spawned?

Thanks.

Still not doing the mission, though. Costs too many Sparks to get to the boss. (And by 'too many', I mean 1 spark, which I'm very reluctant to use).

The "hit" only applies to the shield barriers, the boss has normal HP like all other monsters, however it's HP is near that of Lord Vanaduke. Blitz is also another rapid fire weapon, so I say that's good too. You may have trouble using it though, as you cannot move while firing, which can screw you over if a rocket puppy decides to shoot a rocket at you, or when the bosses missile barrage AoE is just about to come in.

Interesting tactic.

I have one question. Do you, or anyone reading this post, know if the battle pod takes dmg after a poisoned mender tries to heal it? I was thinking maybe a shiver+vv combo since poison doesn't interrupt freeze.

Of course the pod needs to get hurt first.

Currently, I don't know that. But the tactic I listed should have the mender frozen as well, and if possible, far away enough so it can't heal the boss. If the boss can in fact be poisoned, you could try that too for some damage increase, or to finish it off if it's low on health.

Also, something I forgot to mention, the bosses missile barrage AoE can target two areas of the room. Either it be right in front of it, or all over the party button.

Poisoned menders are fully capable of healing others. It is the healed entity that needs to be poisoned in order to take damage.

Battlepods are immune to most statuses, including poison.

So I should kill ALL of the turrets, right Zeddy?

It's up to you what puppies you want to kill, but I highly suggest you kill the rocket puppies when you first get up there. It's your choice however if you want to kill the slush puppies.

Well

If you are going melee on the boss, at least kill the rocket pups and then stay in the middle and slash, this way the pups won't notice you....but then, the greavers come too, so bring a freeze bomb.

Done an steam guide of this. It's slightly better in terms of info and tactics. It's my first guide though, so it isn't like the best.
