In general, knights can outrun monsters (while demonstrating being fleet of foot is just as valorous as bashing). But there are some foes that appear to run / dash / flit / fly faster than the run-of-the-mill knight.

Which ones are they?

And here's another question: do all knights run at the same speed? (Remember: you don't have to run faster than the bear. Just faster than your friend.)

Greaver (fiend), Alpha Wolver

Greaver (fiend), Alpha Wolver when dashing/dodging/burrowing in Tier 3 (beast), Phantom (undead), Oiler (slime), charged Quicksilver (help!).

Also the Royal Jelly during a spin-tantrum, I guess.

Zombies and Sppokats can lunge very quickly, but only as one of their attacks-- complete with warning light. And the Zombie lunge is very easy to dodge or block.

The following is according to

The following is according to my own knowledge of the Clockworks and in no way a comprehensive list:

  • Wolvers dash medium distances almost instantly while pursuing a knight, not to mention the teleportation abilities they get in T3.
  • Mecha Knights can chase a knight at the average knight's speed, while charging an attack at the same time.
  • Devilites can dodge very swiftly, moving faster than an average knight.
  • Greavers' movement speed while they're attacking is faster than an average knight.
  • Gremlins make a quick dash forward as part of their 2-hit combo. This dash outruns the average knight.
  • Fully formed Lichen Colonies are known to make dashes faster than the average knight. Oilers are fast enough to catch up with you. Charged Quicksilver moves faster than anything!
  • Kats dash before making their attack, catching up with knights swiftly.
  • Not sure if Zombies' leap is worth mentioning here.

Normally knights run at the same speed, as long as they're not charging a weapon. There is certain gear however that affects movement speed:

  • Quicksilver Mail and Helm increase a knight's movement speed.
  • Ancient Plate Mail and Helm decrease a knight's movement speed.

Can I have my cookie now? :)

Those are great details

Thanks for the summaries. It's good to see all that in one place. It deserves a page on the Wiki.

wiki forum

If you don't feel comfortable creating the wiki page yourself, you could suggest it here. I'm not sure if it warrants a page. The guys over on that forum might have a better feeling for it. If a "Movement Speed" page should be created, then with your original post and the other information provided I think there's a pretty solid body for it.

gigafreak phantoms are slower than knights... thats how you can run through the level and not encounter them.

They're slower than knights

They're slower than knights when they're in "search mode." Once they've spotted you, they move at the same speed as a player-- except they can walk through walls and even cut corners to get at you (so you cannot escape by simply running). Once they've spotted you, you have to either knock them out or stall them with Stun, Freeze, or strong knockbacks while you get far enough away that they return to slow-moving search mode.

Besides, if you sprint through the level fast enough that the phantoms never catch up, you're probably missing out on one of the best sources of crowns in existence...

What? You can escape by

What? You can escape by running easily. What are you on about, you outrun phantoms easily no matter what they are doing.

Hmm...

Everyone seems to be saying different things about the phantom, that makes it seem as if maybe some people are thinking about something other than the Phantoms.
