So why is the button to go up below the button to go down?

I'm used to it now but the "Advance" and "Quit Expedition" buttons are still dangerously close to one another.

Seems like a UI overlook and flaw to me.

I'd vote "Quit Expedition" to be at the top in-line with the heat meter but centered. That way you'd have to be pretty clumsy to press the wrong one.

I once almost quit a shadow lair expedition due to this. If my mouse had been just a tiny pixel off I would have lost 1,800 energy with little reward and be forced to leave my party members to fend for themselves. Ever since I've always had to take a second or two to make sure my mouse was firmly placed over the "advance" button before actually advancing.

I've been victim of this deadly crime to our adventures many-a times from carelessness.

If not move it, at the very least move it further away from the advance button.

When the UI overhaul first came out that was the first thing I noticed when I went down an elevator. And I've hit the "return" button quite a few times by mistake.

+1 for me.

@Bamzalot

OOO did it on purpose so you need to get more energy, which is obtained by paying money.
It was carefully planned ಠ_ಠ

I like my poker. Don't judge me.

I've never had this problem, but I can see myself becoming a victim of it...

The UI definitely needs some kind of overhaul. +1

If you're so worried about that, you realise that the 10 second timer at the end of a level automatically advances you, right?

It's not a button to go down. It's a button to continue. Have you never played Grinchlin Assault or Operation Crimson Hammer?
Every game has "Continue" or "Start" at the top of the menu, and "Quit" at the bottom.

I have sharp memory of the big "ADVANCE NOW" button when I hit the elevator. I don't see it happening to me on my monitor :s

I've had that problem many times, but I think that some players might still be making mistakes as they got used to seeing them clase.

If you redirect your attention to the old UI (tap into your memory). The button to go down was on the bottom and the button to go up was on the top...logically.

Grinchlin is just a rarity and shouldn't be used as grounds for a counter-argument.

Actually, Lanieu, OCH also goes up. And with the new UI, the button says "continue" instead of "go down". So it would be logical for it to be above the return button. This also leaves room for OOO to make future levels that also do not go down the elevator. So Hex does make a compelling argument

I think I might change my vote to +0; I can just learn to remember the button placement, but I would be able to play it either way.

And many a time I've seen new players take the up option instead of the down option because they thought that was the continue one. I know I did when I first started.
I don't know any game that also does that, and I have a feeling you're only having problems with this one because you're too used to the old system.

I'm having no problems. But

I'm having no problems. But I've come dangerously close to pressing the wrong button and have in the past (old and new UI).

The buttons are too close regardless of a few exceptions to what is going up or down.

Currently it is pretty much this:

Advance
.
Quit Expedition

Should be:

Advance
.
.
.
.
Quit Expedition

It makes sense to have the button to go down (in MOST cases) on the bottom and the button to go up on the top. But since most people are now used to the different and unwelcomed, in my opinion, UI a few extra pixels between the two buttons should be easily implemented and warmly welcomed.

@ Lanieu

That's why the advance button is like 3 times bigger than the quit button, and is also more flashily decorated.
