We recently got a ps4 game pad, and wanted to give it a try with spiral knights, mapping all the button works fine, except for one.

"action" acts like it's being held down no matter what you map it to. So if I want to shoot or swing a sword it instead just charges the weapon and nothing else. I'm a little puzzled by this since all the other buttons work find and acknowledge that they aren't being held down.

I don't know if this is something that can be trouble shot, or if it's a bug, can anyone help me out?

I'm running on windows 7 with the game pad plugged into the usb.

I'm planning on getting a Dualshock 4 sooner or later so I might be able to help you eventually.
Are you using a wrapper or are you just going plug and play?

I'm just using it plug and

I'm just using it plug and play, I looked up the thing for the wrapper, but the instructions for installing it confounded me, so I gave up on it.

If you can help once you get one, or even with the wrapper now (or when you get yours) it would be appreciated though. :D

I believe a wrapper is the best solution since it appears to be an error in SK, seeing how it only specifically happens with attack. This one will make your controller seem like a Xbox 360 controller to your PC, which might solve it.
If you don't want to try that, you might want to check if it happens with other gamepads or in other programs/games. I'd suggest setting up a virtual joystick with PPJoy if you don't have any other gamepads but if it was too much hassle to set up a wrapper, I don't think that's something for you :P

Once/if I get mine, I'll definitely get the wrapper. Why would you get a DS4 if you're limititing yourself to the functionality that isn't new, after all? But I'll make sure to try it plug and play first if your problem hasn't been solved.

Oh poo, that is the one I had found...and I just realized why I was confounded, I got it installed now. (Now I feel dumb)

I'll post again after poking around at it to see how it works.

Alright, I got the wrapper

Alright, I got the wrapper installed properly and all that, and it works just fine now! So it looks like the problem was on the computer's end and not sk's

I can say that there are still some bits that are a bit funny with the hat switch, but that probably just needs some tweaking with the properties and things, otherwise it works good.

Got mine, yay! Due to lack of Micro USB cable, I've only tried it wireless. The wrapped doesn't work very well with bluetooth (input gets completely screwed up) so I've had to run it natively and it works pretty fine. I found an issue similar to yours but it seems like it was tied to the triggers, not the action in question. Basically, pressing a trigger would make it act as pressed all the time. The solution was to keep changing button for it until it hit button 7/8, which is a digital trigger button. Rather than being an axis, those two just indicate whether a trigger is pressed at all. I'll report back if there's anything of interest to say.

Edit: it appears the wrapper does not support Toshiba BT stack, which I use. I can't use another as I need Toshiba's for Wiimote connections so, I'll have to live with DInput until I pick up a cable. I am currently charging the gamepad with a phone charger...
