i live in asia , and i get 1ms ping ( no kidding) , get a constant 2 bar and even get up to 4 bar most of the times
i don't really know if its true , but even when i get 1bar ( rarely) i don't even get lag , srsly 1 bar is the least connection and shouldn't it be lagging?
i do think that the connection bar has problems
im on the us server
edit : i don't play on the asian server
it's impossible that you have 1ms ping.
that being said, high ping =/= lag.
high ping simply causes delay.
lag is caused by bad and unstable connections that lead to packet losses.
maybe not but I have certainly have a low ping
me having a constant 2 bar :
Low ping can be due to timeouts. When your game sends a request to the server and doesn't get it back by the time it timeouts (probably a 1-2 second timeout), it will send another request, and it so happens to have the same tag. If the server responds as soon as a new request is sent, it can classify itself to have a very low ping.
Tell me, how frequent/long do you have this "low ping". If it occurs in spikes, then that was your diagnosis. If the low ping maintains, then I am intrigued.
daily ( no joke)
edit : my ping doesn't go above 50
but i still can't belive i can get up to 4 bars
I'm in Singapore and I don't get less than 250ms. Perhaps they are calculating ping between your local ISP?
singapore has the best connection in SEA(south east asia).
Yes, only if you count out the obvious issues with our ISPs currently... ugh.
Singapore is about on par with Tokyo and Seoul.
It's not like the whole world is wired with optic fibres, internet speeds to halfway across the world can only go that fast.
@zaffy-laffy
which router are u using?
I have a D-Link router, exact model number too lazy to check. And no, I don't think a router affects anything regarding turning your internet connection into a faster-than-light particle ray to the server located in Ashburn, Virginia.
should reduce your ping
thats what i did , bought a new router and got a faster speed and lesser ping
Hiya, fellow PvPer, but if anybody else is using the same internet you are using when you are playing SK, lag will happen, so it is best to tell other people to get off your internet for a while, or play when there is nobody using the same internet! :3
I give up explaining the concept of internet. It seems to just exist for most people, as though it was a separate entity who has a fetish for brand new routers, and having one allows it to break the space-time quantum mechanics of how the internet works, thus making a server seem nearer to the user. One last question, are you using laser satellite technology by any chance?
Go to speedtest.net and test your connection to the server in Richmond Virginia, US. That's your ping to the SK server.
Lower ping means higher amounts of bars. 1ms of ping is impossible unless you are hosting the server and playing the game on the same machine (even then it'll probably be a ping of 0, depends on what game really). Having a low ping to halfway across the world is unheard of. Try doing what Klipik suggested and giving us a screenshot of the results.
I definitely agree, I've never gone above 1 bar, living in Australia, and I dont even lag that much. Most of the time, the only reason I lag is because I have run exceeded my wifi for the month. I dunno.
Are you sure you aren't playing the Asian server? :p
