Starlog 732: It's been a couple of years since the crash of the Skylark. Life on cradle is pleasant besides the occasional jellies stealing my MREs in the field during missions. Desna has been tough on us rangers trying to make as much of cradle as safe as possible for the recruits. Rangers lead the way hooah? High command has been quiet during the time we're here which makes me question their agenda. I should probably let it go though, my job is not to think, my job is to clear the way making is safe for the rest of the spiral order. There has been talk of establishing the 3 corps of the Spiral Order again. I guess it doesn't come to a surprise considering we have a secure home base now and there has been alot of confusion without a chain of command. The titles of these corps also come with alot of honor and you can only join one of them after becoming a vanguard. There are three dangerous missions total before you are truly accepted as a member of the one of the corps (Solo Danger Missions, need a recommendation letter from supply depo to apply 3200 energy/or get a from a boss with a 5% drop rate of the letter). The prestige of each corp has its own perk. To apply to any of these corps the knight has to go to the recently developed area in haven, the "Plaza" then go into the "High Command" building and talk to one of the three recruiters. The prestige honor office is next to the High Command. You can also go their to redeem prizes for job corp when reaching a certain amount of prestige.

Prime Minister's Royal Guards

Infinite Passive Buff Ultimate Sacrifice:Medium bonus in all your status resists. Also if you die all your team mates are restored to full health and removed of any status conditions if they're not already dead.

5,000 Prestige: 10 Life Sparks
10,000 Prestige: Guild Hall Decoration: Save The Queen Sword (Unbound)
15,000 Prestige: Royal Guard Crest
25,000 Prestige: 3 Slot Unique Variant Ticket
45,000 Prestige: Starlight Royal Guard Costume Set (Bound)

These fearsome knights are responsible for escort details for the king as well as VIPs for the spiral order during the Morai wars. They are the absolute bravest and most rugged corps of the 3. They would rather sacrifice their lives to protect their target than accept living with failure. Their intense training has fortified their strength so much that they have to have their armor custom made as dense as possible so that they can endure hits as well as not accidentally breaking their own armor through their perilous tasks. Those armors become too heavy for normal knights to wear.

Desna's Recon Rangers

5,000 Prestige: 10 Life Sparks
10,000 Prestige: Guild Hall Decoration: Bitter End Shield (Unbound)
15,000 Prestige: Recon Ranger Crest
25,000 Prestige: 3 Slot Unique Variant Ticket
45,000 Prestige: Cerberus Recon Ranger Costume Set (Bound)

Infinite Passive Buff Deadly Instinct: Medium movement speed increase. Also when you hit a target with a sword they are marked with "vital spot" and if you hit them again you will do double damage.

Their reputation proceeds them. They might not be as strong as the royal guards but they are definitely faster. They are as ruthless as they are deadly. It's rumored they're so so swift that they can dispatch a target so fast that you can't even hear the sword leaving the sheathe until it's over. The rangers are responsible for assassination missions as well as gathering intelligence. You never know if a recon is on a mission with you because their specialty is not being seen.

Ozlo's Commanding Officers

Infinite Passive Buff Distinction: Medium movement speed increase and shield bash/dash cooldowns are reduced to 50%. All Commissioned Officers have custom clips that allow them have twice the size of ammo in all their guns.

The brains of the spiral order. These knights are typically on the scientific missions and weapon development. They all personally commissioned by high command. The IQ of these knights are off the charts. All the information we acquire while on cradle are processed by these knights for strategic computation and technological advancement. Don't let their intelligence fool you though. In order to be a commissioned officer not only do your test scores have to be high but your side arm accuracy has be in the ninety five percentile or higher. In the field these knights can pick off long range targets in a heartbeat. No wonder I joined the rangers.

5,000 Prestige: 10 Life Sparks
10,000 Prestige: Guild Hall Decoration: Distinction Cannon (Unbound)
15,000 Prestige: Command Crest
25,000 Prestige: 3 Slot Unique Variant Ticket
45,000 Prestige: Commanding Officer Costume Set (Bound)

Hello not trying to spam or anything.

But this will definitely give you an incentive to play more missions and a reason to actually grab prestige. Not to mention twitter/facebook contests. Show your pride for your corps with fan art and stuff! Or let players vote on fanmade costumes for the 3 classes.

SK is not a class based game, and should stay that way. It's ok for players to have new abilities, but to force them to choose a class such as this would be a negative, not a plus.

All of your skills (save the Distinction, which needs balancing) are way too powerful, and would make the game too easy. We kill things fast enough as it is, we don't need infinite buffs that make us kill things 3x faster.

Giving players rewards for having high prestige is good. What good prizes are, I do not know, but I like the idea.

You only listed 2 requirements to join the corps, and I suggest not letting the letter be dropped by bosses. Then people would just farm boss missions all day and never buy the letter. They may also try to sell the letter on AH, so making the letter bound would be a good idea.

And you know you can edit your original thread. You don't need to post a response to say any changes.

Having a class is not a bad thing, it requires more player interaction, as for the skill wise I dunno I'm new to the game but I like it so far, but I just thought it would be neat having different classes to claim, and exclusive costume for those classes, plus bragging rights per class. If anything it could be turned into DLC like crimson hammer and OOO making it so that you can only get one out of the three classes and the costume/weapons/ or whatever are bound, that way the roles in the party could be more individual and identified. If it's DLC wise it could be like Ranger School, Royal Academy, and Officer Candiate Training :P dunno. Plus exclusive achievements per class! It'll be nice to some type of pride in you do best at that role c: Makes you feel more accomplished that you're doing your job in a team I guess? Rather then everyone being able to do the same thing, it feels so generic and uneventful and no type of personal pride there.

Battle Sprites are classes already.

How About No?

Why is there a Prime Minister? It's called the "Spiral Order" not the "Spiral Parliament". And @Draycos. How are factions classes? Battle Sprites are not classes either. They do not restrict you to specific playstyles, nor do they restict item usage. They do not reward you for specific items, nor do they grant the player themselves any specific perks, such as *cough* dual wielding *cough*. Or a temporary, awesome, massive sword. Or a special attack combo exclusive to that class. One of the reasons I have more or less left Spiral Knights, is because I recently had the realization that it is SAD that we are still BEGGING for what we think THE GAME NEEDS. The gunner update? Literally alternate damage lines to the SAME GUN, WITH THE SAME MECHANICS. Other games? They're having awesome events, with inventive new gameplay mechanics. And they have inventive items, with cool and complex mechanics. Weapons like one that was introduced into the gaming world wayyyy back in the day of Tribes 2. The Shocklance. Heck, Spinfusors are inventive! They "inherit" a portion of the player's speed in Tribes: Ascend. They REWARD the player for DOING SOMETHING. SK needs weapons like that. TF2 recently got killstreak weapons, which make your player look like somebody who was tested for mental illnesses the more kills you have. I mean, come on; The gunner update we were promised a November release for, and was pushed to January is just the same gun with different damage types.

@ Arkate
I have 2 game changing ideas that will add variety to the game in the form of brand new equipment types (no, not dual wield. Don't even ask...)
Equipment Augmentations V.1 and Equipment Augmentations V.2

Take a look at them both if you want new things for the game, and comment if you have ideas on how to make it better and such.

gods ain't gonna help you, son.

that's the thing, that everyone chooses to go down the same road as others, but they all can explore all the ways the game is offering. there's no need for diversification in classes, cause you can choose the class you want. the fact that everyone go for the pure damage playstile doesn't mean there aren't alternatives. try catalyzer, cutter line, or vortexes. they are different playstiles that everyone can choose to try but almost nobody does. and you can see that vortexes used well are a great addition to parties.

The majority will choose the most offensive class.

"Makes you feel more accomplished that you're doing your job in a team I guess?"
You are already able to do that. Try going as a support bomber instead of a Wolver clone.

I really don't like clone armor. I am sick of looking at Wolver or Chaos armor.

It'd be sort of cool to join the recon rangers or whomever, but getting a passive- that you can't change ever- would be awfully restrictive, especially if you chose the wrong one... and I kind of like that we're not fully a part of the Spiral Order.

@Fehzor
But we ARE part of the Spiral Order; that's why we have ranks and missions and all that. We just don't get direct orders that we have to follow, because the Order seems to be laid back like that. I guess they think that we as the players deserve more respect than the rank and file soldiers since we are pretty much the greatest knights they have enlisted.

Because being cast off from your home world and your ship crashing beyond normal repair's totally not potentially a punishment for war crimes we committed and potentially still are.

Yes, but something separates us from the NPC army knights that you see camping about so often? I think we're more aligned with the Spiral Order and less a direct part of it.

As far as I can tell, we are a direct part of the spiral order. We started out as recruits, the same as any other rank and file soldier. It's not like we are mercenaries or some other kind of soldier-for-hire. We, as the players, just simply shone brighter than the others and therefore are given certain special privileges over them I would assume.
