Make Solstice Rings Craftable with Event Materials

It's like you didn't learn anything from all the flak people shot out during the Kataclysm; locking items behind pure RNG is never fun.

It took me over 500 pages to get a Book of Dark Rituals, but some people got even more pages than I did and still didn't get a book. Several threads were made saying things like "let us cash in 400 tokens for a bound book". People weren't happy when they finally found their books for good reasons- they were only happy because they didn't have to grind with no end in sight anymore.

Now Solstice Rings are pure chance, even after such a spectacular event like Shroud of the Apocrea. Cue people having enough mats for multiple reskins and not enough luck for a single trinket... and some people got both trinkets within a dozen runs. That's ridiculous any way you slice it.

So why not make those Solstice Rings both randomly dropped and built with event materials?

i think that maybe if we had enough winter wishes of any kind, like maybe 1000 then we should get one bound

Let us obtain Darkfang Shields with Forge Sparks.

I make you black, bluue and red all over

I'd actually be ok with them being craftable, as long as they are possibly harder to craft then the re-skins (not sure on this point, I don't even know what the trinket does)

Hexzyle, you and I both know there's a difference between a novelty item with similar stats to something else, and a totally unique item.

What about True Love Trinkets, then? Maybe we should add "Love Tokens" every time we find one.

I really don't see why something's rarity needs to be nerfed because more people want it. I bet you if they buffed True Love Trinkets to have +8 health, everyone would be asking for a drop rate increase/one of these schemes.

True Love Lockets are just renamed penta-heart trinkets, so they're a "novelty" and should stay rare because they don't actually affect gameplay itself.

Of course people would want more of a chance to get them if they were outright better. Locking a clear difference in power behind luck just isn't fun.

Come to think of it, that's why the 'standard' Heart Trinkets were made in the first place. People didn't like how TLL's were locked behind chance.

The new trinkets aren't "better", they're just an alternative: sacrificing some health for a status resist. It's not like people who can afford Trinket Slots can't afford a low freeze UV on their armor.
Anyway, the Darkfang Shield has higher normal defense but lower elemental defense than Wise Owlite. Once again, an "alternative". The difference is minimal. Not like it's obtainable anymore, anyway.

"You can just buy UVs" doesn't stop Grand Solstice from being the only HP/Fire/Freeze trinket in the game... something something "UVs are a stupid system too" rant you've already heard before blah blah.

Darkfang Shields are 4* and their minimal differences are pointless past 4*. It's an "alternative" that doesn't scale as well as 5* gear into the endgame, so it doesn't matter as much, if at all.

Same story with the Green Ward and Static Flash, which are money-exclusive, and yet people don't care about those, because they're starter items that fall off hard by Stratum 6.

If my guesses are correct...
That change in normal resist for a darkfang shield makes it equivalent to the 5* grey owlite shield when blocking all types of damage except elemental.
It is superior in that regard, since it is 4* (and currently easier to heat - or wieldable by lower ranked knights).
Also toss on a UV elemental med and the two shields would seem identical.

For some reason 4* shields show the same HP as 5* shields. Once I get around to it, I'll be verifying if this is actually true or just a mislabeled tooltip.

With all that being said, you had a better argument with the black kat cowl. The "better" argument dies horribly with the solstice trinket, and only has a vague semblance of structure with the grand solstice one. Online games will always have rare items trapped behind RNGs. It drives the game's economy. OOO is just making them slightly more desirable. Don't like putting up a fight against the RNG? There is always trading people who do.

Keep in mind - I still don't have a black kat cowl. There still is no end in sight for when I'll get it. And I accept that.

This is going to sound insane

This is going to sound insane and inane, but I bet it did every other time I said it, too: I don't care what RNG does for a game's economy, I do care that it's an infuriating mechanic that shouldn't be used as much as possible.

Black Kat Cowls are an extreme case, but I still think gating the Grand Solstice trinket (which is currently the only status-resist trinket worth using over penta-hearts or offensive trinkets alongside the Gift of Autumn) is worth mentioning, even if it's so much less absurd of an item.

+1 because I agree and no one has said an actual argument against it so far.

The trinkets are kind of poor at best, but I'd still agree that they shouldn't be entirely luck based... make them cost a ton of mats. Reward the people who work for it, not the ones that win the lottery.
