*Before anything happens, I just want to remind everyone that this is just a discussion and NOT a suggestion*

Well, I was just playing spiral knights and then I was thinking what if there were new damage types or statuses. So I just started thinking randomly but couldn't find many that fitted into the spiral knights theme. So I was wondering if you guys had any ideas for new damage types or statuses that FITS into the SK theme.

Not really sure what the theme is, but damage types like fire/water/ice doesn't really fit, not sure how to explain though.

My idea would be Chaos for damage type, but status is a bit hard.

Hakuna matata.

Chaos as dmg type is good, the status would be chaos ofc, so your controls would be inverted in every way. Which has been suggested a lot of times already, it would probably be a really cool status.

Also, move this to suggestions.

We have had quite a few new

We have had quite a few new statuses recently.
Buffs - Attack damage up, Attack speed up, Defense up, Movement speed up.
Debuffs - Enchant, Hex, Bind, Slow.

Bind (or whatever you call it) is more or less a copy of freeze, but Slow is different enough from stun to make it interesting. The buffs are sort of the opposite of poison and stun, if you think about it.

If you were to continue to modify existing statuses in this way, here's some more.
Buffs :
Heal - gradual health regen (opposite of fire?)
Un-interruptibility - can not be interrupted (opposite of shock?). Can't think of a better name right now.

Debuffs:
Attack speed down - like stun but with out movement speed down. An alternative to slow
Attack damage down - like poison but without defense/heal debuffs
Defense down - like poison without attack/heal debuff
Disarm - can't attack (think curse, but without self damage)

edit: Forgot Invisibility and Deathmark.

Diablo 3 status effects could replace sk statuses.
  • Snared: Your character is slowed down. The magnitude of the slow effect varies depending on what's doing the snaring.
  • Rooted: Unable to move from your current position.
  • Attack Slowed: You swing your weapons more slowly.
  • Chilled: Snared + Attack Slowed
  • Frozen: Mostly the same as stunned, but certain skills, like the Wizard's Frost Nova's Shatter Rune, cause frozen enemies to behave differently. Frozen enemies leave no corpse.
  • Immune: Immune to whatever status effect you're trying to apply. This can be knockback, stun, snared, or any other status effect, depending on the individual in question. Bottom line - one or more of your status effects isn't "sticking", so to speak. Unlike Diablo II, no monster in Diablo III is supposed to be immune to a damage type (though they might have high resistances).
  • Knockback: Physically moves the target away from the origin of the attack.
  • Stunned: Rooted, and unable to attack.
  • Charmed: Fight other monsters instead of the player
  • Feared: Running in fear, unable to take action or control direction of movement.

Found from suggestion forum.

Possess
> Same like generic charm, but you are able to control yourself. But your attack will hurt your ally. Way too OP and discourage bomber.

Blind
> Distort screen. No effect on AI, of course.

Confusion
> Controls will be inverted. Can easily overcome with practice.

Drain
> Instead of draining health, you can also drain resistance/damage from enemies. OP.

Rage
> Attack increase, defense decrease.

Syndrome
> Not harmful. But when mix with other status, the status can be deadly. Like 30 seconds poison.

:)

Possess-Uuh....Okay....OP

Blind-That is actually legit, but I guess if you put blindness on monsters you can actually make their player-detection-range shorter?

Confusion- Actually, that is pretty hard to overcome. Why? Try LD.

Drain- OP No other 2 words for it. OP

Rage- Like all other games. :)

Syndrome- Actually a legit status. Imagine shock and fire with strong syndrome. O__O

Lag: Nah, when you get hit, you walk through the wall, and when the status ends, you find yourself dead. ;)

Undress
Your knight is covered in a large mass of mosaic and you can't see enemies that are close to you very well.
Busting
Your knight automatically runs to a random corner or wall in the room, and then stands completely still there for a short moment

Hmmm

@Exerpa
"Un-interruptibility - can not be interrupted (opposite of shock?). Can't think of a better name right now."
--maybe Iron Stance?

debuffs-
Fear-running in random direction, cannot control yourself
Rooted-can attack, shield and turn, but cannot move and hits taken do not free you
Blind-you see only a dim outline of enemies and other players
Confusion-attack at random
Chaos-movement directions are flipped, attack and shield buttons are switched
Doom-after x amount of time expires, does damage based on maximum health
Wound-temporarily reduces maximum health
Clouded-cannot see the terrain
Flip-entire game screen is flipped horizontally or vertically

buffs-
Esuna-cannot be inflicted with any bad status ailment while active
Regen-slowly regenerate health while active
Shield Regen-decreases the delay before a damaged shield recharges and increase recharge speed
Rage-damage taken increases attack and movement speed
Bide-damage taken increase your attack damage
Counter-damages the attacker if hit by a melee attack
Dismantle-can walk over traps without damage

neutral-
Berserk-Increased damage, attack speed, and movement speed, but take more damage and cannot shield
Defensive-drastically decrease damage taken and damage done, slowed down, shield is stronger
Clear-cannot be inflicted with any other status effects while active
Reverse-status ailments taken convert into a random good status effect, vice versa

comes from storeable and usable items drops-
Time Reverse-EXTREMELY RARE. when the rare item drop is used, there is a 5 second delay, then revives you once after you die if you die within the next 10 seconds without using emergency revive
Iron Stance-attacks cannot be interrupted
Turret Stance-roots you, but you get increased attack, defense, and attack speed. all attacks are converted to bullets containing the effects of the weapon used
Death Mark-comes as a throwable item. when thrown, the enemy that was hit takes increased damage
Salvation-EXTREMELY RARE. when used, all party members gain increased movement speed, attack damage, and defense, and cannot be inflicted by status ailments
Disarm-comes as a throwable item. enemies hit deal decreased damage and cannot shield (some gremlins and mecha knights can shield)

i have more, but i can't think of any names.
