Gigafreak is correct with one small but important correction. You can get the T2 elevator fee waved as long as you access Moorcraft from the D7 elevator. If you join a party and luck out to a lower level or you have a fried that will allow you to join long enough to descend by the L7 elevator you can have the 200 cr fee lifted.
If you aren't that interested in T1 you can work at skipping levels for the free T2 access or pay the 200 cr each time for T2 access.
regarding gigafreaks comment on "If you plan on going through that gate frequently before it's cycled out, it might be worthwhile to clear Tier 1 in it at least once first, to remove the "Skip Tier 1 fee."
will that mean that every gate that opens in that slot will be free, or just until the gates cycle out?
cheers.
Just the same, exact gate.
Every two days, the gates move one slot to the left. After eight days, they vanish off the left side (cycled out).
So if you cleared your way to Moorcroft Manor on Day 1, you can access Tier 2 for free-- but only in that gate... and only for the next 8 days until it disappears.
Folks intending to farm a specific gate (i.e. Royal Jelly Palace) will usually clear that gate's Tier 1 as soon as it cycles in so the crown fee doesn't eat into their profits.
I have the problem that because of the energy costs I can't get to the guy at the end of tier 1. I have gotten to him a few times before when my gear isn't good enough and now it is people keep dropping before we get there. I was on the last level before him but was unable to beat it by myself.
If you were unable to beat the last level of tier 1 on your own, you are not ready for tier 2.
Enjoy the challenge of tier 1 for now, and work on your skills (especially using your shield). Once tier 1 feels easy for you, you will be ready for tier 2.
Well depends on what's on the 7th floor, like Fiends are just friggin hard... :D
Try to solo Snarbo if you're forced to hoof it alone in Tier 1. It's not too hard with a 2* sword, and besides, boss HP scales down with less members.
Wait whats this about waving off the fee? can i do this for tier 3? and can someone explain this to me? i am extremely curious about this
Normally in a new gate, it costs 200 crowns to skip to tier 2 and 500 crowns to skip to tier 3.
However, if you go through tier 1 on that gate and reach Moorcroft Manor, you waive the tier 2 fee when you want to go directly.
And if you complete tier 2 and reach Emberlight, you waive the tier 3 fee.
Alright, step one is to get clearance for Tier 2 from the Spiral Warden. He's hanging out at the end of Tier 1: Depth 8. So, once you've cleared a total of 15 Tier 1 stages and you have your 2* weapon, armor, helmet and shield all together and equipped, you must fight your way down there on any gate and go talk to him. Once he acknowledges that you are sufficiently awesome and allows you to pass, walk through the force field next to him (it was red before, it turn blue after you talk to him). You should receive a Mist Tank in the mail for unlocking Tier 2 for the first time on your account.
After that, return to Haven by whatever means you please. There's an elevator back outside near the Warden, there's another elevator in the back, or you can press Esc and pick "Return to Haven." (Though feel free to talk to the locals if you please. Some of the dialogue is entertaining. What dark ritual? 83)
Head back to the Arcade and walk up to an active Gate. Click it to bring up the menu. You should now be able to create or join parties for Tier 2. Keep in mind that if you haven't fought your way down from Tier 1 at least once on that gate, skipping to Tier 2 will cost 200 Crowns on top of the energy fee. If you plan on going through that gate frequently before it's cycled out, it might be worthwhile to clear Tier 1 in it at least once first, to remove the "Skip Tier 1 fee." (Basically if you prove, violently, that you can get past that gate's Tier 1, they stop charging you for skipping it.)
