Where is he going, where have he been, why does he never stop by Haven?

As a travaling merchant he is travaling. But the only place we se him is in the crossroads/terminals.
I know that is to make the game a game. We have to fight to get our stuff.. Wouldnt be much fighting if he was in haven now would it.

But wouldnt it be nice, if we could se him wander into the bazzar and sell us some stuff, and then wander of again?
(I know this will never happen)

So I ask again.. where is he going and where have he been, besides inside the clockworks?

He's just reclusive and

He's just reclusive and enjoys the less spam filled areas of the planet.

Finding less and less solace as annoying adventurers descend further to track Basil for his personal collection of armor and weapon designs, all he wants is to be left alone.
You pushed him away with nagging and begging for his newest creation before he gets to try it, forced him to leave his helicopter birds and share an apartment with Vanaduke.

Now he plots his revenge on the tiny robot people he loathes so much.

Basil mutters... "Enjoy those flawed blueprints, while you can" to another naive adventurer, who thinks Basil is just a dispenser of goods.

Oh, and guess what?
Basil's coming up, and not for dinner, he's here to slap the face off your head.

The last straw has been set, next summer, prepare yourself...for...Basil; UNLEASHED.

Coming sometime soon.
Basil.
Has had it.
Day after day of designing better weaponry and armor.
Every design bought by yet another of those punitive little robots.
Every vial thrown at him.
All the rage he had to contain.
The burnt, statically charged frostbite-ridden cloak is off.
Basil will rise.
Haven will fall.
In its place will rise a dreary dystopia.
Where the law is enforced by legions of snipes.
But the Knights will arise.
Heroes will emerge.
Valiant leaders will fall.
All of Cradle breaks loose in...
The final battle.
Coming when Basil says so.

Haven't you guys figured it

Haven't you guys figured it out yet? The "Basils" in the clockworks are only projections of the Greater Basil, who lives deep in the core. These lesser Basils were created by the will of the Greater Basil, for the explicit purpose of helping knights obtain the equipment required for them to fully explore the clockworks, reach the core, and eventually penetrate the core itself and reach the Greater Basil.

Thus insuring himself an endless supply of snacks while he's busy playing World of Weirdcraft...
