Usually I'm not all about the 1v1 tournaments since it's mainly a team based game, but that match up vid now has me hyped. Gona have to practice my damage farming now, apologies to the LD community in advance!
just as a heads up to people, he's not too bad with a sword if our late night shenanigans the past couple nights have been any indication
Flood only has ASI med, get in his grill and he'll be stun locked unless you let him put a status on you
"only has ASI med"
i'm not sure how mentioning a UV has any kind of relevance to discussion here but whatever floats your boat
Question:
Is this single elimination or double elimination?
Can we use a visualizer like this (just an example, not the real one)
http://challonge.com - online tournament manager
edit:
I've never hosted a tournament before but just made an account and tried it out (it was the first one I found on Google) to make the fake brackets/simulate a tourney - this is actually really nice and simple to use, update, and view/share (it's completely online).
It looks like the first round a pool type setting. We all play each other, and the top two victors (wins minus losses) move into the next bracket. In the event of a tie, the person with the least amount of losses moves on.
It's probably the best format for a tourney... at least that's what years of running Smash Melee tournaments have taught me :).
If you're looking for a tournament style program, Tio is probably the best one I've used.
As for tournament play, I'll just stick with my guns. There will be plenty of sword and hybrids in the mix. Might as well make it interesting with a mix up.
OBS is good, just cant find a good resolution to record at. If you can get me a good one, let me know.
@Blueflood:
I played in some local Brawl tourneys for a bit and thought of tio too, but I find challonge more readable/nicer for digital format with all the mouseover business.
I was also thinking it was like a FFA pool too, but this doesn't sound like it :\
edit:
well, by "first two" if he meant top two results in both--> get seeded in opposite sides, then I guess that makes sense.
Nykl here. no trinket slots, refuse to do any runs with this stupid forge system.
forfeit me or give me trinkets, your choice.
That won't be them forfeiting you.
If you aren't gonna play, YOU are forfeiting.
*cough* you don't need trinks to play *cough* wuss
Saying that you don't need trinkets to play is kinda like saying that you don't need a parachute to jump from a plane. The results are the same:
You will die.
Krakky, I've seen tons of players perform well or even outstanding in proto with trinks ofcourse. But I think proto with trinks is the same as 5* without trinks.
5* without trinkets (but with heat) will give two pips less than Proto w/ trinkets. On the other hand, the former will provide a bit more defence which should be more than enough to make up for lost health. 5* gets better resistance and often, it gives abilities. So, I disagree. 5* gear without trinkets will be objectively better defensively unless one is facing a damage one does not have defence against and 5* gear will always surpass Proto gear offensively unless said 5* gear is Plate.
tl;dr so I'm just gonna agree with you.
Yes, yes that is true krakky.
@Retequizzle:
The ASI might make a difference as to whether or not he can counter after getting hit. Maybe.
@Nykl:
If it makes you feel any better, I don't use HP trinkets. I use the equivalent of vog and then damage trinkets to make kills quicker (same gameplay, just less attacks to finish). I'm sure you've had to kill people who had HP trinkets in the past. If you're better, you'll outmaneuver or find a way to get past their attempts to hit you, right?
I have 0 asi, unheated guns.
trinkets are my only advantage. if i dont have them, im not playing. they have 2x my hp as striker.
Scirio, you dont need trinkets to play random lockdown or gvg with complete noobs.
this is a 1v1 with the best of the best.
What does the forge system have to do with getting cash to buy trinket slots? They so inexpensive compared to the length of time they're available and the value they give.
Wow...
Yes omg! Put the kid in here!
To Gold- if I ever get to 1v1 you, be sure to have your facecam on ;)
Edit: To Contri, what do the video specs need to be for the tournament? I have a terrible PC and I'm going to need as little as CPU usage I can get (and being integrated with steam isn't helping either). I'm planning on 15 fps and readable toggle text for the matches, would that be fine?
To be honset I'm crappy, but ti kinda depends on what time the matches play and stuff. Not saying I should be entered though xD (YET :O)
@ Tenkii: yeah the asi may make a difference every once in a while, but the point i was getting at is that less asi does not equate to being "in your face" as a viable strategy, because at that point you're making the mistake of associating UVs directly with player skill
Yeah about the ASI thing, you can still stun lock people with asi low. When you get a ton of crazy asi, you actually end up having to learn to time hits, otherwise you face swinging through people's bodies #invinciframes. Imo, asi makes a much bigger difference for slower weapons with high DPS than fast-swinging weapons.
Hades is right. I found my ASI low flourish a little slow, but when I first equipped a vog cap, invinciframes killed me. Takes some getting used to.
I want somebody fun to watch. Jumamiza will completely wreck all of you in this tournament.
whatever, you choose whoever you want.
pce
Miza :| Well after reviewing the list of contestants and my lack of impression to Feller (LOL) I nominate myself to assume the role of Official Underdog. GLHF everyone, and may the ping be in your favor
I was simply stating that some players need help with aiming, and that they shouldn't be classified as any differently. Then again, there's always Contri and his ginormous ego to break down stereotypes, as clearly shown above.
500K! :O Such huge amounts of moolah for you max-uv folk, maybe that'll allow you to upgrade your ASI low FF to an ASI MED FF! >.>
Not to be a downer, but this whole tournament feels like a giant ego boosting festival.
If they need help with aiming they can't be "the best players". A good player should be able to aim without help.
Reto-Da-Nub 4 - 0 Thazs (The Bandido)
Reto will upload the video soon.
I'm starting the upload in a bit (maybe tomorrow). Video is rendering.
Is this good enough quality for the 1v1's? http://youtube.com/watch?v=ddzCLCMml70&feature=c4-feed-u
You have absolutely nothing to do with this tournament Gianor.
It's easy to have a lot of comment when you're standing at the sideline.
Contri and Feller organized something, everyone was allowed to participate within the rules posted, it is thus a community thing.
Now tell me why you feel the need to attack them?
If you have nothing to contribute to this thread then just shush yourself.
i'm actually impressed with how organized it's been compared to previous tournaments held by similar groups, which was my main reason for not joining initially (feel free to ask rebel and la-cal if you want to validate that one, since that was my only main complaint with it)
and even if it does appear to be a giant ego boost, the people who are participating in the tourney have proven they can hold their own or have unique enough playstyles to pull some out-of-nowhere shenanigans which should outweigh whatever motivations people have for playing
tl;dr - it's about the journey not the destination, and assuming this one goes as well as it appears to be so far in terms of organization and such, i'll probably try to hop aboard for the next one
And here's my video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZRmjggkmY7o&feature=youtu.be
Thanks to Bandido for the fight and to Shadow Overlords for helping getting the match going.
@Lizzie --- Nice job man dat Eu Pride! I will ask Hadn if you can drink a cup of earl grey tea with us <69
Aren't the rounds supposed to be best of 5 (3 wins)?
Not when the players have different preferred regions like Reto (EUR) and Darkcub (US). The last round was on US.
A stranger did the matchs up, theres a video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xiVi7da1Fcc&feature=youtu.be
