Can someone tell me why the Asian website for the game looks so much better than our website?

You can't honestly sit there and push off that their site being more advanced and well designed is merely subjective opinion.
As an HTML/CSS and Javascript programmer, I can say that their site is a lot more complex than ours is, on a fundamental level.

Made by different people, with a presumably higher budget for web design.

I will agree that it is fancy. However, it doesn't fit Spiral Knights at all. Although, our website fits the old UI of Spiral Knights better than the current one... but still much more fitting than the Asian SK's site. As for being better designed... I disagree. Our site has a nice clean layout while theirs seems a bit more chaotic. Obviously it is visually more complex, but that doesn't mean it is better. So yes, it is an opinion.

Pretty much this. That site screams 2002, DW, and fan-site to me, from its design to its code. If anyone thinks it looks nicer or more professional, you haven't been on the web long enough.

While ours is more slick and smooth, theirs is flamboyant and exaggerated.
I prefer our version.

Ours is simpler but better
Their's look okay but a bit over the top (and not in a good way). Im glad i saw this, made me realize how i appreciate our web design.
Because that's your opinion.
