I've never seen the CE price go over the 5K invisible boundry. It's shocking, to say the least.
Should free players start panicking now?
Holy crap guys. The CE price went above 5K.
Free players panicked when it went over 2k, why stop now?
@Paska That's a bit sad, considering you can make triple that price in a single JK run.
@Zoa, then why panic unless it crosses the 6k boundary ??? ;)
Yes, you can thank the self-proclaimed "trolls" who are posting bids 100 at a time to create walls that the energy price won't dip below. Someone has well over 100 bids just sitting at 4,869 crowns, for example.
I saw players panic when it went over 1.5k Crowns its life you go on I guess. I guess it will get to an equal price around 5k to 6k Crowns dont think it will go higher than that given the current market in this game. I feel as a paying customer its fair on both ends, but others may not agree with me, and well if you dont its okay.
The auction house is the best thing to ever happen to free players, providing an -enormous- crown sink, therefore making crowns worth more relative to energy while at the same time providing a way to sell materials and crafted items. And yet the total number of crowns coming out of the clockworks is unchanged, so CE prices still are likely to remain firmly capped by the average take from running a tier. Running Jelly King is far above average, so, the only thing free players have to fear really is that they may have to sell materials they'd rather save for crafting or that they may have to run jelly king more often than they run any other tier (which many do anyway just to build up crowns and heat).
@Tipiak
Because SK is already excruciatingly grindy. No one is going to look forward to spending hours trying to grind up the tiniest bit of progress.
@Keenmachlne
That would explain a lot.
You don't have to grind that much to make progress in SK, well maybe you do, but I don't.
I make enough crowns daily between running T2 (only once or twice) and the auction house to buy about 300 CE a day, and still have lots of crowns left over. I'm sure there are players that are even better at being profitable than I am, cause in general I suck at things like auction houses and selling stuff.
There's no reason to worry until it gets over 9000.

Though playing with the exchange prices at 15K is quite amazing. You can still make everything work.
Zoa, I hope you're not ignoring the comments that it's been over 5000 before. It really wasn't even that long ago.
Energy prices over 5k crowns?
Better drink my own piss.
It went around 5.5k a couple weeks ago or something.
Think it almost hit 6k after the AH update but rapidly dropped back down all the way to 4500 then back up a bit, seems to spike a bit after updates.
With the starter pack incentive, I think the price will stay steady or even drop a bit for awhile before creeping back up.
But the problem is that the higher it goes, the more and more unfriendly toward new players this game will get. If OOO hasn't already realized this, I bet they start taking note soon, because new players joining a game are the lifeblood of any MMO that wants to last more than a year.
When you get to the point where a new player can't buy enough energy with the crowns they make from going into the clockworks sustainably, you've got alot of frustrated new players that will look for a game that doesn't limit their playtime so harshly. Right now you can make back the money of a full tier 1 run and then some, but only if you don't die and do the whole thing. Most new players can't get past the 4th or 5th floors, and certainly can't without dying.
so when do we have the right to panic? when it costs more than what 100 ce spend on the clockworks can give on crowns and mats worth? so if using 100 gives u a total of 7k selling mats and all that stuff once CE hits 6k it means ur gonna have to grind and go over the same run over and over again for a week just to get a 4* item
it already takes a couple of days to get a single 4* item for T2 players as myself let alone the whole gear to get to T3 so....just as global warming we should probably start panicking NOW!

Yes, but when the AH was released, CE crafting costs went way up, which will catch up eventually. Also, as sellers figure out the price points of their stuff, they won't be sinking huge amounts of crowns in unsold items. The AH also does everything in crowns, so I'm sure there were a lot of people converting at least some, if not a lot, of their wealth from CE to cr.
Special deals for buying CE with money will probably continue and temporarily push the cr<->CE exchange rate down, but it will be hard to keep doing one-shot deals like the AH transition.
CE crafting costs went up, but the crown cost to buy the recipes went down, which largely leaves the overall cost the same, modified a bit up or down dependent on the cost of CE at the time of crafting.
It's been well over 5k before.
