Before you guys say anything around these areas I'd love to let you know these are all perfect reasons for what I'm thinking. Custom spiral knights figurines delivered for your desk. Who wouldn't dish out a lil extra cash just to see their knight chillaxin on their desk? Would it be awesome if OOO put the time to have this developed on a small scale first having a total of 50 slots for custom stuff related to customer demand and then branch out to larger stuff like regular models (basic armor setups and shtuff)? Lemmi know :D

I'd very possibly purchase one if they weren't too expensive and got you some in-game benefit. Some artifact, a bit of energy, or something. I'd be even more interested if they were customisable but that'd probably mean a higher price.

I can see that being a thing. Might be even better to create the base Spiral Knight, and order it in your personal color and have them come with a suit of armor, exchangeable for other armors. If Three Rings just makes 3D printed knights, then it would be worth making accessories be optional and cost extra.

But before figurines, I'd like to see monster plushies.

The problem with this idea is that most SK models aren't all solid geometry, if you look at it there is a lot of low-poly open geometry with masked textures on the characters armor. If this merchandise came to be, all two artists on the SK team would have to go back and make separate 3d printable versions of every armor set. +1 for idea, I'd love to have a little cobalt armor set knight on my desk, -1 for feasibility.

The problem is... OOO is in the game making industry... not the animal stuffing industry. They've got degrees in programming, not sewing.

=.= its people like you i wana throat punch. If it means getting cash in you're pocket more then usual and everybody likes the idea, then its worth investing more resources for more income. Secondly its not feasible because you can easily craft, and model these via blender through topology and then retopologize it. Toss out some new crew members to do this and work under a new gift department and tada you have a new set income. Hell with as many accessories, armors and setups I have on my character to replicate everything i have would make them richer then Bill gates! XD (bit of exasperation but still it is cray cray)

On the other note plushies are also another option owo AND T-SHIRTS! :Q

The game is so cute already

If Spiral Knights merchandise was sold at retail stores, players or not would buy them because they're adorable! Plushies especially, shirts sure. This would be a good way to market the game, and maybe the items could have an energy code on them so people consider playing the game! It could work!

I've suggested plushies and people wanted them. I work at a toy company and am proficient in 3D modeling. If I got my own 3D printer I'd definitely model up my knight :)

They seriously need to do this. SK just looks too adorably awesome to not have a figurine of your knight just sitting ontop of your desktop/bedframe/table/shelf/homeless hat inside your box house.

he couldn't sell SK figurines without an agreement with OOO, due to copyright infringement, for quite literally selling something that he doesn't have ownership of (spiral knight designs) Also meaning that a majority cut of the profits he makes will probably go to OOO which would be grand, thus increasing profit revenue for OOO, and after a while, eventually Hexzyle might break even for what he payed to buy the 3D printer in the first place. Thus, in the grand scheme of things, OOO becomes richer and more popular and might be able to hire some more staff and output content more frequently, fans will have adorable little desk dwelling replicas of their ingame knights, and Hexzyle will probably never have another minute of free time for the next few years.

Lol, although I doubt it. There can't be that many people interested in the models, can there?
And if Three Rings really wanted to profit off the idea, they'd just buy their own 3D printer, right? I wouldn't mind just handing over to them the model files though seeing as it's theirs to begin with.

I've heard there's a lot of legal issues to do with 3D printers, apparently there was a firearms model put up on the internet that could fire live rounds and the material held together long enough to be a viable weapon, but it was taken down on request of the military or something.

Is something still illegal even if I sell it at a price that only covers the materials?

Considering terms and conditions you'd need to go through a legal court to make a profitable business with someone elses tender. I read the terms and conditions....its long....and i still read it all. Basically you'd need to be licenced under OOO as a third party industry to succeed with this.
