Erelias can remember the day when it happened. When Sonja fell into the clockworks. He does not remember her clearly, but he can always remember her face. He was never in love, but he can remember her.
On that day, he could actually remember Sonja handing him flowers. Erelias was grateful, and even more is that he could also remember the feel of her hands. However, he was always to help others and help himself. On that very day, Sonja was walking and tripped over the ledge and fell into the clockworks. She held onto the ledge for a few seconds.
"Erelias! Erelias! Help me! Please...I'm falling! Help!"
But he did not come. He was too afraid. Perhaps it was personality. Seems as though every single time something like this happens, he does not rush to help. Then after a few long minutes, when Sonja is just gripping the ledge with all her strength, Erelias rushed as fast as he can to her. But before he grabbed her hand, she fell over... and plummeted between two gears, which twisted and ripped her apart.
Erelias felt afraid, not being able to see anything. Yet he was not that sad. After all, he hardly knew her. Her funeral at Spiral HQ he did not attend. He thought it was a waste of time. Yet...something strange bothered her ever since her death...
He has been feeling the same thing over and over again: A pair of ghostly invisible hands pushing him. When he walked, he felt the push. When he ran, he felt the push. In time, he even convinced himself the mysterious push was helpful.
Years went past and he became a valued member of the HQ, an elite recon. He also sort of forgot about Sonja. One day, after a devastating mission with the death of more than one third of the squad, he went to the arcade to inhale deeply. He looked at the machinery and the gears below.
Then he heard a whisper...he did not recognize it, but he heard it.
Then it felt like something was behind him. Then he felt the push.
He tripped over the ledge.
He heard the voice clearly: "Bye bye, Erelias." The voice was Sonja's.
And it was ghostly hands that pushed him!
A neat pair of ghostly hands!

"Yup. Our squad member Erelias lost his balance over this ledge and got ground up by these gears on the bottom." The worker pointed at the gears. "We found his remains, tattered in pieces."
Desna sniffed. "Wasn't that the same place Sonja died many, many years ago?"
The worker looked at her. "Yes, now that you mention it. Yes. What a coincidence!" He laughed.
Desna glared. "He was a honorable member. Nothing to laugh about."
The worker backed down. "Ah. Sorry. But you know, when I was standing over the edge when I saw Erelias fall, I could have sworn I felt two pairs of ghostly hands!"
((Any comments is appreciated.))
Cute.
