Dear Spiral Knights,
I've messed up bad. I was trading the following TF2 items: 2 Hats, 1 Strange, 1 Shirt, and 1 Backpack, I got this in return, 7,000Crowns, and 2 Blue Shards. I got gyped! I didn't know until I asked my Guild, who has been playing this game for years. One member has been playing since May 2011. He told me I could I have gotten 50,000Crowns out of that. Spiral Knights, is there anything you can do to either Refund the items back to him (MINTHER) or keep his items and give me 43,000Crowns (50,000CR - 7,000CR = 43,000)? Spiral Knights, Please Help Me. I needed some crowns, and I thought that is how much it was. It wasn't my rushed desicion, I was cheated. -Nicest Reguards,

Can't happen. The culprit would play dumb and, naming and shaming on the forums is not allowed. You should always ask a pro BEFORE you trade stuff. And seriously, did you think not even 100ce was worth that? If vendors sell 3* gear for only 35kcr then why would hats sell less than 100kcr? Get your SK market right please.

First of all, your pleas are misguided. You're more likely to get something done if you contact support directly. Posting in General Discussions is going to accomplish nothing. At most, you might be greeted with unneeded hostile, aggressive posts, such as the ones above.

Second of all, if this was done via Steam's trading service, OOO has no power over this.

Thirdly, the track record of getting scammed in this game results more often in not in the scammer being reported (probably getting a warning, or even temporary [or if the offense is bad enough] permanent ban), and the scammed getting no reimbursement.

The way you word this makes it seem as though you were ignorant to the value of the items you offered. This is part of the problem. More often than not, people will take advantage of the ignorant if it is convenient for them. (For example: merchants overpricing Skolver coats with Elemental or Shadow Max under the guise of selling a viable Lockdown set to someone who doesn't know how Lockdown's mechanics work.) If a merchant sees they can get away with paying 10k for something worth 200k, they won't hesitate. The only thing you can do is be more careful next time.

Straight-Line
  1. befriend pleople in real life
  2. if that person is too far away, make small talk in game (do a few runs or something). Doing so will (maybe) show trust and make people open up to you more
  3. Above all else BE RESPONSIBLE

Sure many people on the net cannot be trusted and can think it's fun to see people have some sort of mental breakdown in chat, but making the right choices will help fix this situation.

As mean it was for the guy to

As mean it was for the guy to shark you(for those who don't know, sharking is the tf2 trading term for ripping someone who doesn't know the price of an item off), it was partially your fault for not checking up on the market prices of the items you sold to him. You also accepted the prices he offered you by confirming the trade, and he did not promise anything you did not get. Sadly, there is not much you can do about it.

Buying some items worth more than what you pay for them is not scamming. It's called getting lucky and taking advantage of an opportunity.

The "scammer" will get no warning or ban, because he was not scamming. You and him worked out a price that you were happy with at the time, and it turned out you got the bad end of the deal at the end of the day. These types of things happen every day.
