Just got mine today and i'm wondering, if I make a macro to alch switch, would it be violating Tos?
Razor Backwidow, macros, and Tos?
I believe you aren't allowed to, not that they'd notice if you did. ToS 6.13 for reference.
It would violate the ToS.
But, how would they find out if you don't tell anyone (brag like an idiot)?
You don't know if there is macro detection tools on the client or on the server (I doubt it, but it's plausible)
It's possible to time the responses received from the client and make deductions from that.
Someone reported for macroing would definitely have their inputs checked.
Macros break the ToS, yes.
Skyguarder, why don't you think so?

13. modify any files or use any game hacking/altering/cheating software or tools, including scripting or macroing software, or attempt to disassemble the game client and/or decipher the data transmissions between Spiral Knights' client and server. These activities will result in immediate termination of the Player's Account and may subject you to civil and/or criminal liability.
Lawyers nowadays just copy paste the ToS, it don't really matter unless you do it to gain profit/benefit yourself, such as people who mod their game to be able to see recons during LD.
you don't need mods to see recons in LD.
Anyone who does needs to BE A PART OF SOIL!
I used Logitech's software to set the weapon keys I use (7,8,9 on number pad) to keys on the side of my mouse. This is superior to macros, I use this in most of the games I play actually to make more weapons easily accessible to me. When you make a firing macro, it just doesn't feel right. I attempted this in some game, I forgot which, but the bullets would pop out at the wrong time and just miss the enemy completely. Especially for Spiral Knights, you will lose a lot of accuracy. Besides, latency would probably break your macro anyways seeing how the servers are now having heart attacks.
If you really wanted to use a macro it would take some practice to use it well...and you might as well put that time into playing.
Anyway, how fast do you need to be? Is there any difference in the various star weapons and whether you have a bonus versus a no bonus?
Yes, I can do alch switching without macros, but not moving.
@Hawksteel
I think that's more just having "more keys available for your bindings".
Certain controllers aren't banned because they have more buttons than others.
I'm using Logitech's software because Spiral Knights won't recognize the extra buttons :(
No all alchemers fire at the same speed.
Using the mouse for alchemer switching would let you move, you should have invested in a mouse and not a keyboard! I used to use the mousewheel for switching, and sometimes I still do.
@Hexzyle
"BE A PART OF SOIL!" should be your new subject every time you post. :3
I have the same keyboard, I don't use the macro keys in SK (as that would be breaking ToS) but I do rebind macro keys 2 3 and 4 to sprite abilities. That way I just have more keys to press closer to my left hand :P
I was going to do it whether you wanted me to or not :P
RETURN TO EARTH YOU SE'CUM
Yes, it would violate the ToS.
[EDIT]
@Krakob
Ah, thanks for pointing that out.
