I'm going to try my hand at writing (or typing, I guess) a fan fiction. I'm not entirely sure what it will be about as of now, but I'll figure that out as I go.
The title means "mechanized world" in French, by the way. I'm not from France, but it has a nice ring to it.
So, the character apps: (Not currently accepting)
Include-
-Name
-profession (Swordsman, Gunslinger, Bomber, or Hybridist)
-weapons (These can be modified, within reason to suit your character's style and named, but don't overdo it. Four max. If modded, include a brief visual description.)
-Armor and Shield (List accessories, if applicable.)
-Personal color, height, eyes, etc...
-Character personality (to get a feel for how I should write for your character)
-background story of your character (optional)
-Battle Sprite (can make your own up, within reason)
I'll start with mine.
Name: Banszul
Profession: Hybridist
Weapons:
1) Venenatis- A modified Flourish-line weapon with a deadly poison tip. The charge attack consists of a hop and a thrust. The hop produces a weak poison wave on landing and the thrust can pierce multiple enemies. If an enemy is killed by the poison, they will release a toxic cloud on death, spreading the effects further. The sword is dull gray and dark green. Instead of the faux 'wings' on the guard, there are six small poison tanks.
2) Granizada- A modified Iron Slug with an extended barrel and a pistol stock. It has a clip size of a single round, and fires heavy ice projectiles with an arcing trajectory. Can cause both Freeze and stun. The charge attack fires a spread of three smaller hailstones at higher velocity. The charge does not launch the user back. The gun is light blue with white lights. Instead of an orange glow, icy air blows out of the two holes above and below the barrel.
3) Erdebeden- A modified Irontech Destroyer with a lesser radius and slightly lower damage. It causes tremors and fractures in the ground on detonation. It has minimal horizontal knockback but launches enemies in the air. There is a small chance of eruption, causing fire damage and increased knockback. It appears as a normal Irontech Destroyer, with a vibrating cylinder attached. The bomb is also partially encased in rock.
Armor and Shield:
Helmet: Chapeau of the Blue Rose with Cool Vented Visor and Prismatic Dapper Combo ( I know these two technically couldn't go together, but the visor covers the eyes and the combo covers the mouth, so whatever.)
Armor: Cool Spiral Brigandine with Prismatic Canteen
Shield: Darkfang Shield
Appearance:
Personal Color: Lake
Height: Normal
Eyes: Sleepy
Personality:
Banszul is a reckless but powerful Knight warrior. He knows how to get the job done, and have fun doing it. His casual demeanor annoys some, as does his questionable weapon modifications, but his skill is respected. He may mess around a lot on the outside but his time in the Clockworks has changed him greatly on the inside. He has a tendency to drag on when talking or thinking and thinks a bit too much when he has nothing to do.
Background:
Banszul was recently dispatched to investigate dubious Gremlin activity near depth nineteen of the Clockworks, but contact ceased not long after he arrived. Some suspect him of going rogue, but his squad has volunteered personally to find him and discover his fate. This is where our story begins.
Battle Sprite:
Banszul has a unique sprite that he calls a Banshee. Its name is Clamatis. From what he can tell, it was originally a peaceful, surface-dwelling snipe that took a nasty fall into the Clockworks. It unfortunately succumbed to the darkness within, and is now a pale, four-winged, blind creature with a large mouth. It uses echolocation to find its way, similarly to a bat. It wears an Elite Iron Harness, and its food is made from Moonstone. Banszul found it when he was fighting his way through a Fiendish City. It was initially hostile out of desperation but quickly became attracted to the Moonstone mineral he was carrying. Banszul helped the poor creature out of the city and back to the surface. It was too late to restore its vision, but it was tamed and nursed back to health with the help of Biotechs and now fights by Banszul's side.
Abilities:
1) Burst Shout- a low-frequency blast of sound that does very low damage but knocks over and knocks back all small enemies in a 180 degree radius in front of the user. Cannot knock over medium-sized enemies such as Lumbers, and is useless against anything larger than that.
2) Paralyzing Yell- Locks enemies' muscles in place, rendering all foes in a small 360 degree radius unable to move or attack. However, this slightly increases the defense of affected enemies and has little or no effect on constructs. The larger the enemy, the shorter the duration.
3) Piercing Scream- an extremely high frequency scream that deals very heavy damage to a single target. It pulls the targeted enemy towards the user. This pulling effect is present even on larger enemies, though to a slightly lesser degree.
The sound of hammers and machines fill the air. Scuttlebots wander, Gremlins work, and everyone's happy... as happy as a smelly, shaggy, subterranean mammal can be, anyway. A lone figure begins to stir among the commotion of the Deconstruction Zone. A knight of the Spiral Order, incarcerated by the Gremlins. His vision flickers and fades and he tries to move. The pain is too much, however, and he collapses again into unconsciousness as his captors cackle at his failure.
Minutes pass, then hours.
The ancient gears grind and creak, never allowing true silence to manifest. All is still, with only the ancient machine in eternal motion around the sleeping Gremlins. The knight comes to again. This time, he will not fail. There will be no one to laugh at his sad attempts. Soon, even the subtle breathing of the slumbering creatures will be still...
The knight's eyes shot open like they were spring-loaded. He reaches for his icy hand cannon, but finds only empty air.
"Where am I?" he whispered to himself.
That, he may never know. That gigantic Lumber he fought three days past might have knocked all knowledge of his mission right out of him. He though Ironwood Sentinels were a myth. He was wrong. One can be sure of nothing in The Clockworks. If it didn't exist before, the infernal machine will create it. For all his struggles, he is as much in the dark about his whereabouts as his unfortunate imprisoners are about their incoming deaths.
Banszul stood up straight in his cage.
This little operation was about to meet its untimely end.
