I have recently taken a liking to gunning and am assembling a gunner set. What i have planned is as so. (Keep in mind that MAX=6)

Perfect Seerus Mask |Gun ASI Low--(1)|Gun CTR Med (2)|
Chaos Cloak----------|All CTR Med---(2)|All DMG Med (2)|
SwiftStrike Buckler---|All ASI High---(3)|
Sprite Perk------------|Gun ASI Med (2)|
E. Trueshot Mod.-----|Gun DMG Med (2)|
E. Sword Focus Mod.|Swd CTR Med(2) |
Lv10 Sword/gun------|S/G CTR Med(2) |

So Overall the bonuses are as follows.

Gun ASI MAX
Gun CTR MAX
Gun DMG Very High
Sword ASI High
Sword CTR MAX
Sword DMG Medium

Please give me any tips on maxing out the other stats without using variants. :D

Also, the reason i am adding sword CTR is because i would like a brandish on FSC.

You'd probably have to use chaos cowl as well to max out ctr and damage guns and swords without uvs (with gun and sword damage trinkets)
If you want to use your current set then ditch the gun asi for damage instead, swiftstrike is enough

Although you could try to get a brandish with ctr medium or undead vh, they're not too expensive.

With pet perks, you can max out ASI/Damage with any +4 ASI/DMG dedicated gunslinger set (nameless, justifier, shadowsun). With Chaos, you can max out all gun stats.

For example, max with chaos:
Name: DMG | ASI | CTR
Chaos Cowl-- 2 | 0 | 2
Chaos Cloak- 2 | 0 | 2
Sprite [DMG] 2 | 0 | 0
Trinket[ASI]-- 0 | 2 | 0
Trinket[ASI]-- 0 | 2 | 0
SwiftStrike--- 0 | 3 | 0
Lv. 10 gun---- 0 | 0 | 2

= 6 on all 3 stats.

Same deal for Shadowsun, except no CTR bonus from armor.

For a less-optimal or in-progress set (say, missing sprite perk), you can use one DMG and one ASI trinket and that will push you to max DMG and Ultra ASI.

Now for the ASI gunslinger sets (justifier/nameless):
Hat-------------- 0 | 2 | 0
Poncho-------- 0 | 2 | 0
Sprite [DMG] 2 | 0 | 0
Trinket[DMG] 2 | 0 | 0
Trinket[DMG] 2 | 0 | 0
SwiftStrike---- 0 | 3 | 0
Lv. 10 gun----- 0 | 0 | 2

= 6 ASI/DMG, but CTR left to 2

Also, Nova/Umbra Driver are guns' elemental and shadow "Acherons", so I prefer to use those instead of swords in PVE. It is possible to compete with Brandish DPS using those.

if it's just gunning I'd rather use

Perfect Mask of Seerus (+2 ctr, +1 asi)
Chaos Cloak (+2 ctr, +2 dmg)
Elite Trueshot x2 (+4 dmg)
Swiftstrike (+3 asi)
Sprite Quick Draw II: (+2 asi)
Level 10: (+2 ctr)

for better status protection than just a Chaos set

Nova/Umbra can compete with a Brandish charge spam? Last time I checked I can hit over 20 enemies with one charge and do over 2000 damage.

@Flowchart

Response to first post:
I have thought that over in my mind before and I view ASI as more desirable than DMG bonus seeing as I can decrease time standing still with guns like Callahan, therefore decreasing vulnerability as well as increasing DPS.

Response to second post:
I may craft a second E. Trueshot Just for the purpose of not using swords at all. The setup I mentioned in the OP with a Brandish would be for FSC seeing as i can't do FSC without a Brandish. (I can but a Brandish takes it to a hyper speed FSC run)

And just a question, does anyone happen to know how much a single point of DMG bonus ups damage in a percentage?

See the wiki page "Abilities".

Getting that much damage out of a Nova/Umbra charge is pretty difficult, if not impossible. I think that the poster's point was just that Nova/Umbra have massively powerful charge attacks among guns, in a similar way to how Combuster/Acheron have massively powerful charge attacks among swords. A skilled alchemer user with big CTR and big damage bonus is a fearsome PvE monster.

Bopp caught my intent: The relationship between status and non-status alchemers are the same as the relationship between the status and non-status brandishes in that the non-status weapons deal more damage than their status counterparts.

I'd say more in my claim, but I'll wait til I can play SK (later) so I can have concrete comparisons.

At the very least, I'll say that the Brandish vs 5+ (realistically) enemies is something that shines with vortex. If you're the one dropping the vortex (say, solo situation), that requires setup time. For alchemers, the only setup you need is 2 monsters walking towards you (virtually no setup before you can start damaging).

Now, I won't claim that Alchemers deal with 5+ monsters the quickest (in fact, with a vortex, I use Neutralizer instead), but due to ricochets doubling/tripling the effect of each bullet and the lack of setup needed, it can compare well enough for most situations (2-4 monsters). For FSC, you can reliably kill 2-3 adjacent monsters with a single nova charge up to 3 players (I've done it much more rarely with 4 players in party), but I'd say that should be respectable enough.

Yes I know that Nova/Umbra

Yes I know that Nova/Umbra are monsters being that i own a Prisma Driver and love it.

I do realize the damage potential of guns and that i why i am creating this set.

Thank you for the percentage wiki... um.. reference?

EDIT: Ahh, thanks for clearing that up, Seiran
