So, I just recently checked back after taking a break(once the UI and forge BS updates happened, I just went and playd a different game)
I have had Acheron since then and I keep hearing everyone whine about "oh Acheron update was too much" "Acheron is too OP"
So, what has happened with it?

It was felt by some players (and perhaps by the designers) that Acheron was less powerful than Combuster/Voltedge/Glacius, which did the same damage plus status. So Acheron was given extra damage. Most expert players on this forum seem to feel that the right solution would have been to decrease the damage of Combuster/Voltedge/Glacius.
Yes, Acheron does the same damage as Gran Faust. And it charges faster, and lets the knight run more quickly while charging, and so on. Acheron is definitely more powerful. However, one should keep in mind that Gran Faust's wide, long swing can be very useful. For example, you can keep an entire crowd of slimes at bay, even in tight rooms where Acheron would have no room to charge.

Acheron was recently given the ability to split all of cradle in two upon executing a charge attack.

It's overpowered.
Nothing more, nothing less.
I'll give some examples;
Acheron does more damage to Constructs than Fang of Vog, Acheron does more potential damage to Beasts than Barbarous Thorn Blade or Final Flourish, Acheron does more damage to Undead than Cold Iron Vanquisher, Acheron does more damage than Gran Faust to everything, Acheron is now the highest DPS sword in the game save for hammer which is only higher because of that insane 3-hit dash that it has, so Acheron can still be considered the highest DPS sword since the dash definitely isn't the most accurate thing in Cradle.
Oh, and best of all, Obsidian Edge, the sword that replaced Acheron, is almost completely useless compared to Acheron.

Recently a buff has made it such that wielding Acheron will grant the user psionic abilities, such as viewing the future, killing people on demand, teleportation and synesthesia.
The official use of Acheron's name was also recently capitalized in all settings, as it is now considered a deity due to its cult following and status as a major world religion.

Acheron's ability to make the wielder see a doctor at any time has caused worldwide chaos in healthcare and will sooner or later increase the pace at which the earth is populated due to a significant reduction in deaths caused by diseases, wounds, and more.
Obsidian Edge took Acheron's old damage and got poison status.
Acheron was buffed to Gran Faust's damage.
Gran Faust is obsolete.
