If you want lag gone, either:
1) Get better internet connection
2) If it's frame drops, then invest in a better graphics card/processor/memory.

Wow, you woke up at 6am lulz :P Who knew...anyway, even 20mbp of internet is not enough for SK....wut !?
@hellscreams-Forum
I didn't ignore you I actually killed 2 birds with 1 stone in that post, technically if what OOO says is true their servers are great but if this is the case then its the netcode that really needs a revamp as well so people who are farther away can have a more stronger support system net wise.
Also Spiral knights is the one game that I know has netcode issues. I can play minecraft online perfectly without hardly any lag issues and the foundation of both spiral knights and minecraft are the same. To prove my point, last night I was playing spiral knights, after a decent amount of time passed i could hardly move my character without walking into pits so I logged off, popped open MC and wada ya know? No problems what so ever there.
Lastly if they can make this game f2p instead of p2p theres hope for a netcode revamp as well. Although this may seem stupid to compare it drives my point home quite well, if they changed their CDN provider then they can find a way to make the netcode more friendlier for players who are farther away from the servers.
This game in general really needs to go back to what it was before in my opinion. To me being able to revive someone with half my hp as well as being able to share your items in dungeon runs made this game very fun to play. Now with the addition of missions the games market economy has become more of a hassle than it ever was back when CE only used to be 2-3k per 100 units. If the game truly wants to get back in the right direction they need to focus on core mechanics and stop throwing around re-skins and costumes.
Well there are my two cents to the post.
...Huh? I woke up at 12:00PM sharp like I do every day O.o
I got 65.0 Mbps and I'm going really strong on TF2 AND SK. No frame drops or delayed actions or anything.
*Yawns*
Can I say what I think we need?
Levels. Levels and levels and levels...
Because...well, the Clockworks are supposed to be vast and diverse! There are lots of levels, but I wish we could have a stream of content, at least a few new levels every month or two.
@Takiwolf
Honestly the old revive system was terrible in that it made me feel obligated to revive people... which inevitably made me die as a result. But to just let them sit there dead? That was painful in itself. If anything, we should remove the ability to share sparks of life.
@Lag Conversation
More servers would be great, but a larger playerbase to utilize those servers is needed to support them. Running a bunch of costly servers might make the game more palatable, but wouldn't necessarily be the best course of action for this reason.
(Obligatory Hexzyle's idea of new monsters based on a thread I'm too lazy to find).
@Fehzor
That is why you play with people you know. I just hate the way that the sparks are making you pay more per revive generally than you used to with energy itself. The reason that the old revive system was good is because you didnt have to stop to revive someone like you have to now to give them a spark of life. The system all together is just not as good as the old system.
hmm what would improve SK i think would be patience, especially on our part. and lag decrease ... that would be nice
They just need to redo their netcoding, and personally if making levels is 1 thing then they should seriously add some styled revamp on the way the game plays as well. Not dissing on the level editor but I'll be honest if its a new .exe then no I'm not gonna get that most likely, I'm here to play the game not make the game >.> on a side note I can speak in general for other players that are in my guild, friends list, afk's and those who quit that were online on sk, the game got boring because you couldnt really do much with your character besides make em look cute, grind missions or die in lockdown. There was nothing really to do during grind seasons that made you feel unique all it is, is:
Load game
step outa spawn
1, 2, 3 hit enemies/charge spam
profit
Doing that so much for certain players just pisses them off cuz its the same thing every time and personally I get a whiff of that myself, i cant get through a full tier without quitting due to it getting boring, i cant play even to a terminal without the entertainment of someone else making the experiance better then the gameplay. I love sk yes i do, but its just you cant do much with this sandmich if you dont have the ingredients to bang out the shmexy sandmich >.>
Replace the Haven Training Hall with a level editor system pl0x~
The simplest change that I feel they could do to greatly increase my interest in the game is simply releasing new armors that make being a defensive tank a viable option.
This would not only give them much more leeway to making incredibly difficult and unfair level designs, as it would almost require 1 member in the party to play as a useful tank. (Think dungeon designs where the entire floor is timed spikes and a Guardian-esque player whose wide shield radius can withstand the spike damage ticks; or the shield can heal team members too with a cap on # of pips that can be healed over some cooldown period like ~10 minutes).
There should be more investment in creating interesting level designs that encourage players to use certain gear, and then make it relatively easy to obtain such gear. The varied gear experience helps keep the game feeling fresh.
Instead, the current experience is to delay players from finishing their full 5* sets as a means of "prolonging the time it takes to reach endgame/vanguard level" which feels more like an annoying chore than playing a game.
Again, armor changes I'm thinking of already exist or are extensions of things that exist in the game.
Sets that would encourage a more hybrid playstyle (gun/bomb, sword/bomb, etc) would be nice to see too, and could easily be balanced with harsh penalties (gun dmg+1, bomb ctr+2, sword dmg -2, sword asi -2, for example)
The topic of new armor sets has been beaten to death, but I believe it's the simplest change using existing mechanics that could greatly increase intrigue in the game.
@Momo
In the end there is not really diversity, you can still rock a flourish, you can still spam a polaris, you can still spam bombs. Thats really all there is to it. The game doesn't have a constraint that critically hinders the player to have a negative con and a positive pro. Instead its all Pro, no cons. Going hybrid is as easy as getting a wolver coat, slapping a sword, and gun and just walking around demolishing everything in your way. What you cant kill with your sword you can easily take out with your gun. If I want to be more diverse I just simply add a weapon slot now my combinations are much more diverse; I can now take a sword, smack everything with it; but if I cant do that I pull my gun out; if my gun cant take them out I just pull my bomb out and give myself more time to think on what to do next. Doing this just makes the game too open to implement such an idea. Yes you're a tank but at that case what about the draw backs of a tank? Low mobility, slow attack speed, massive recoil, Charge time increase on anything but bombs, all sacrificed for what...a damage bonus no higher then max and high health/armor? Something a skolver/snarbolax set could do with ease if you slapped a DB trinket on? Nawp just...just nawp its no bueno. If the striker line (wolvers not referring to LD) health got decreased this could work but then what? Everyone gets penta trinkets and we live happily ever after with the same health as the normal setup or more which I have no problem with; besides the point that lockdown will just get demolished and even more unbalanced. >__>
Now before you guys try to cut me let me say this. I have no problem with going hybrid; I actually prefer it over anything else, but even a hybrid needs its conflicts. Like giving wolver sets more power with the more sword type weapons you have equipped and if you have per-say a gun or a bomb in your inventory it decreases your striker stats to balance your character out so roflstomping isn't with every move. I was even thinking, if your weapons aren't compatible with a specific armor set then they wouldn't have the same potential as they could if you had the right set, decrease damage output/how often status effects roll out.
Sk's diversity is large in armor, large in weapons, and very large in reskins but very VERY limited in playstyle and control. Everyone does the same thing regardless of how unique you wana be.
Close....but it's no antarctica but from a place start with 'a' as in......
Clue : half way around the world...
