They do realize that they HAVE to nerf it right? It is just common sense not to make a fast sword as strong as a heavy sword. Especially one that's so easy to get. If the obsidian blade did the same damage as the current acheron, it would make more sense at least. It would be crazy but still make more sense...
I suggest that they bring up the damage of the obsidian blade by about 5-7%. Then I suggest they nerf all the brandishes but Acheron will be back to its normal damage and the other brandishes will deal 20 damage less.
So erm... When is Acheron going to be nerfed?
Acheron will be nerfed when Half Life 3 comes out.
EDIT: You're suggesting the Obsidian Edge do more damage than Acheron even though OE can poison?
/clap
Sorry I typed that incorrectly. Sorry. I'ma edit the OP.
Heavy swords have been outclassed by fast swords forever though :/
I can imagine the designers being all "well, heavy swords have knockback so they're safer and can hit more monsters with their swings" or how Acheron is a non-status weapon and deserves power to compensate (see: Neutralizer vs Biohazard or Nova/Umbra vs status alchemers), or how heavy sword second swing can quickly be called to cancel an enemy attack in order to justify their damage values.
Ever since they made brandish charge consistent (instead of random explosions), the heavy swords have been outclassed in their damaging ability vs larger mobs as well :\
Actually, Half Life 3 will likely come out prior to any acheron nerfing.
And your plan to nerf acheron doesn't make much sense. Giving acheron additional damage and poison does not constitute a nerf.
In order to nerf the Acheron down, the normal combo damage should be reduced to the Shadow equivalent of an Elemental Brandish's normal combo; it's not like the Combuster can set enemies on fire with normal swings, can it? Why the Acheron should have a buffed combo, no idea.
They're not going to. If they haven't during the huge discussion when the event happened four months ago why change it back now?
EDIT: You do realize that your suggestion is bad, right?
