I just completed the tier 3 version of OCH,
But it was tough, too tough.
So I thought there might be a problem with my loadout.
Since I need to do it 2 more times, can anyone give me advice?
Operation Crimson Hammer
I use the skolver set
with a silent night blade and a master blaster
The enemies deal elemental and normal damage. So Skolver doesn't help a whole lot. Vog Cub would help more. You didn't mention your shield, but Grey Owlite is the safe choice here.
The enemies are susceptible to shadow (gremlins) and elemental (constructs) damage. So your weapons are fine.
I've only done the Tier 2 version, but I've done it three times, and weapon-wise I'd say that the Dark Reprisal and the Blaster was the easiest loadout. The only part that was easier with other weapons was the first time you encounter the Ghostmane Stalkers.
Any haze type bombs (shiver, agni, voltaic, etc) helps, it de-cloaks the stalkers, and also drop the mortar's shield because of status effect pulses. Blaster is kinda meh. If you're good with blitz needle, bring it, it's still op at crimson hammer place.
Like one of these guys mentioned, your problem might be in your skolver armor. Sure the damage bonus might help especially when you use the nightblade charge but if you get hit often you'll spend a lot of time on the floor.
'Too tough' is still ambiguous though, do you get hit often? Is your shield ineffective? What difficulty are you doing it in? Do you party alone or with other swordies, gunners? Which monster is giving you the most trouble?
I would recommend that you upgrade to Acheron, but I don't need to open that particular can do I?
My shield isn't really the problem, I use either an aegis or a bts.
I will change gear since the real problem is that I get hit when I'm just attacking,
So I'm getting the volcanic salamander set for jelly runs, is that any good?
I will also use my dark briar barage from now on.
Thanks for the support guys!

BOMBS.
Seriously, with bombs you just run away and the enemies'll take damage. Most of the time you don't need to be near them.
what I meant are Voltaic Tempest, Ash of Agni, Shivermist Buster, Venom Veiler, or Stagger Storm and their equivalents, lower star versions. Hmm... oh well.

It's unfortunate that Darkfangs have Trojan-like shields.
You forgot to mention your gear. That's 50% of the problem most of the time; ineffective gear.
Do you use swords, guns, bombs? What armor were you wearing?
