I already searched on wiki and found that a freezing bomb(like shivermist) is a good option to RT. And saw a video of a guy soloing the boss with a Nitronome. But I'm wondering if there are others good bombs to RT, because I never did RT before with just bombs.
So, there are other options?
Bombs for RT
For while, I can't afford the expansion and Irontech Destroyer & Co.
A shard bomb instead of a crystal is a bad idea? I want to be able to hit gremlins.
Using shadow type attack alone at RT is completely fine, you'll be able to hit slime+gremlin effectively, and construct just neutral. However, shard bombs damage is not so great especially when you don't get correct damage type, I don't know >__>
You'll also have hard time timing up hitting the switch if you are stuck with shard bombs only.
To note on the Shard Bombs, Roarmulus Twins cannot be damaged by any of the Shard-Bombs so it's not exactly the best thing to take since it's physically impossible to kill the Roarmulus Twins with just the shards.
Zeddy once tried. GMs didn't want to help when he sent a support ticket.
No one can afford an effective Irontech Destroyer anyway, but if you are able to do RT, then you must be able to craft the Irontech Bomb, which is actually a viable alternative to all 5* blast bombs including Destoyer, due to shorter fuse time, high damage, and 5* range. Still takes quite long to go off, however, long fuse time doesn't necessarily mean "bad".
To answer your second question, as Poopsie said, you need to use the correct shard bomb to deal high damage.
Now, I can't really say anything about shard bomb DPS, as I can't tell how many enemies you can hit, using how many shards, but keep those in mind:
1-Heavy Shard damage is equal to neutral Heavy Crystal damage. Core deals 35, shard deals 47.
2-Neutral damage benefits more from damage bonuses. A quick calculation from Zeddy's charts, the difference is about 16% at maximum. (150%-134%)
3-Neutral damage for shard bombs is about 60% of effective damage.
4-Elemental line will always be overall best in IMF.
5-Being weak to nothing in IMF, Dark Matter line is always superior to the normal line.
@OP
I dislike of shadow for personal reasons.
And don't worry, I know about the part of the shard bombs.
@Bluencool
I was planning to do it on a party, so I think I can go with a 3* crystal bomb and a Freezing Vaporizer Mk II.
About the irontech, it's a fun bomb? I already saw that it's a slow bomb and be sluggish isn't my play style, although I like blast bombs.
Irontech is quite fun, and actually the only blast bomb I would suggest for use in parties, aside from DBB. Though Nitronome can also be used well in a party, Irontech has less chance to screw things up and is better at crowd control.
If your damage bombs are below 4*, you will do more contribution to your party by going for support bombs.
3* hazes are still pretty good at spreading status despite low area coverage, however, Freezing MK II has a disadvantage. While shivering enemies, you have to consider those:
1- Are many enemies frozen?
2- Are them distant from each other?
3- Are them distracted from battle?
4- Are you distant from them?
5- Can you keep them frozen for long?
You see, low radius is a hindrance to all of those. Though first question is actually the least important- you could be making only two puppies and a retrode face the wall and that counts as pretty good job. But the other questions are quite important, and the answers must be positive. You probably have already developed some strategies involving your Freezing MK II, but runs will be way more comfortable when you get the Atomizer.
TL; DR: Get 4* gear soon.
Thanks for giving advice.
For while, I just have a Master Blast Bomb and a Plasma Capacitor as 4*gear. I'm just on need of a 4* bomber gear. And I will craft a Irontech.
You should get dark retribution/OCH if you can. Dark rets is the best thing imo.
Bombs are great for a lot of levels, from arenas to danger missions to JK. RT however is one mission I would say don't bother trying to do with bombs (unless you want the challenge).
- Lots of switches, blockades and puzzles= pain in the butt with bombs, much slower.
- Mobs are small and spread out so not suited to bombing. Compare with JK where there are usually 10-20 mobs spawning all at once in a single room.
- The boss has a small window for doing damage to it so you're better off with weps with quick attacks, otherwise you have to be godlike with prepping your bombs in advance.
When I tried bombing RT I used Nitronome and DR.
DR & Co. : Basically bombs that are strong against gremlins and quicksilvers, stationary targets, and still pretty good against other constructs. Interferes with switches, so it is better for your team to fight in one place.
Don't have the expansion? Well then...
Venom Veiler & Co. : Good for the occassional mender and vastly decreases damage, so your mates won't be punished badly from getting shocked. Interferes with nothing.
Ash of Agni & Co. : Interferes with nothing. Has damage over time. What your mates will need if they are getting zapped a lot.
Stagger Storm & Co. : Useful for slowing down mechas, gremlins, and delaying retrode charges. Quicksilvers are immune. Puppies will aim better.
Vortices: Sometimes it is just better for your team to clear the room as fast as possible that otherwise you will be in serious trouble. This happens all the time in Munitions. So you throw a vortex and your mates kill the stuff inside. Bonus points if you get a charged quicksilver in.
Electron Vortex can be used for quicksilver friendly fire and high overall damage, while Obsidian Crusher is weak to nothing and inflicts poison. Graviton Vortex deals higher damage than both, however, will still be inferior compared to EV when it comes to constructs.
Irontech Destroyer & Co. : Superior to Nitronome due to higher knockback, higher damage and stun, thus better compensation for annoying flashes and screen shake. If your mates know how to fight inside a blast bomb, this can be a safe way to clear out enemies. It basically creates a safe zone. Make sure no quicksilvers are around so they don't dive in and KO the whole team.
Shards: Save your slot for the elemental one. Due to unpredictable knockback, you may send quicksilvers into shock traps, and you don't see many gremlins there anyway. Heavy Crystal Bomb and its big brother are your only reliable elemental DPS sources, and they are quite decent at it.
Da Shivermist Buster and Freezing Atomizer: Locking turrets, locking quicksilvers, locking those annoying spawns in the last room of D16, locking scuttlebots on the boss stage, locking mecha knights. Did I mention Shivermist is pretty good at locking stuff? Use it well.
Save Nitronome for solo runs. If solo, never go full bombing.
