this thread is just to talk about what everyones theory is about WHAT exactly IS cradle?

my theory is that the core is designed to contain some entity of light (or something like that) and keep everything else out, and the barrier of the clockworks and the "worlds" within are pieces of other planets that cradle collects as it drifts through space (in the new opening video whatever hit the skylark could be how it breaks off chunks of planets) I also believe upon a recent first-time run through a shadow lair that the *SPOILERS* "mad man" mention in the info bubble in the sanctuary is king trinkenzar *END SPOILERS* and that the gremlins are tasked with protecting the entity within the core. I also think that the swarm is an entity of shadow attempting to get to the entity of light within the core.

summary: I think that cradle is really one big ever-changing battlefield between light and darkness.

whats your theory?

@Mordenius
That is, more or less, what I think cradle is. Given the information we receive through the campaign and through the echo stones in the shadow lairs, I find it hard to think otherwise.

my theory is that the contents of the core once existed on its own, and early tribes of gremlins were able to discover this strange and powerful energy force. Quickly, it became known to gremlins far and wide, until gremlins started turning against eachother in greed, to take the power for ones self. In an effort to stop this quarrel, the gremlins designed the core to conceal the entity, never to be opened. One fateful day in the future, the core was re discovered by future clans of gremlin. The unnatural energy emitted by the core inspired the gremlins to study it further, they built the clockworks and cradle around the core as a kind of massively oversized science lab. Due to the otherworldly nature of the core, energy crystallized into minerals, and it began drawing other things toward it; be it chunks of other inhabited planets, a large asteroid that now orbits like a moon, the skylark, the list goes on!

The cradle is a place that harbors several different planets and civilizations, thus called the cradle.

My theory is that the core is something that King Tinkinzar found in an Ikea meatball. He then proceeded to say, "Make the pie higher!" and created an entire planet with it.

My theory is that cradle is a peaceful planet, but a war between the gremlins and the strangers, the strangers destroyed all the gremlin bases on the surfaces then they planned to do it underground, creating a Giant maze inside the planet with a lot of traps and hazards, so the strangers doesn't reach their underground operational base, they made the base underground, but the palace of the king tinkinzar is inside the core, that's why it is locked, so if their base underground is destroyed, he can revenge.

The core is Nick's brain. Nice for us that he left it here when he moved on from SK.
