At first, SK was free for everyone.
Then.... it was sold to Cybernet.
So I can't make more accounts. :( I could only play with my original accounts.
Today I logged into SK through Steam. This came up.
'This game was activated with a code only avaliable in a specific geographic location. Blah blah blah You're not allowed to play Spiral Knights.'
WHAT? WTF? OMFG?!
NO MORE SK?
Please, Steam, Spiral Knights, Three Rings.... let me play my beloved game again.
It is more of a copyright issue. I think gamecyber just doesn't want people going over to the main SK servers, and want them to stick to their own servers, because they can earn money and what not that way.
Have you tried VPN, it's not much, but it's something.
Yet again, asking support to help switch your steam SK account to the web account is probable.

Gamecyber had SK for a while now... I'm surprised it took so long to tight this up (it's been sold like 10 months ago... before the aeriegame promo...)
A lot of Thread has been made about cybergame you can probly find them out in the archives for a better estimate on the date.
And somehow that doesn't surprise me from OOO... Loadout made me have another look at how devs handle their games... and how worst they are then I originally thought...
