first of all:

but leaves me to wonder
we had 3 already but where is the need to say it all mysterious like?
why cant they just go straight to the point or at least explain its nothing that important.
or at least tell us its a surprise that will make everyone happy!

They're probably making VERY subtle changes that hint at....It happening soon.
another thing i have noticed is that they always release one of these "behind the scenes" changes around the time they same they will have to "delay" the anticipated updates and that leaves two things:
1- they really are having some hard times with these new updates but the want them to be perfect and maybe fix some stuff
or
2-or they are lazy and just throw us random updates and events to delay the updates even more
just a thought..
or maybe adding minor things for upcoming events/promos - things that we don't see yet, but will activate in the near future?
It's probably smoother to just 'activate' a thing that already exists from being downloaded earlier than it is to announce 'HEY THIS NEW PREMIUM THING' and have a ton of people downloading huge patches all at the same time lol... Like an item for an upcoming event.
That's my guess on it, anyway.
It should nevertheless be discussed (or announced for that matter) because we gots nothing better to do anyway..

If you look at the Valentines contest that's running right now, it mentions a secret prize. Also, that was posted at the same time as the update. I am guessing that the behind the scenes update was adding that prize into the game...

Edit2: @Qwao the point I wanna get accross is that when you make an update you should add content so people don't question for answer they shouldn't even be asking in the first place. It's just nonesense to make a patch and say "we changed stuff'.
Check Loadout first Dev Stream after Launch. They talk about Cryo which isn't going to be in-game for the next months like it's no big deal, show skins that you won't see but will be added to the game. The way they handle things is so awesome and I wonder how SK could look like with a different way of thinking...
Point is: When you make an update and add "behind the scene changes" you do changes in-game too so people won't notice. It's just common sense and common patch workaround. Ninja patch are usually.... steathly...?
I personally like to think they really are adding new content- except they aren't made available publicly or in game. Suppose they are preparing for a big patch- but instead of throwing EVERYTHING at you and taking like, 2 hours to update at once, they break it up into little bits and spread them out.
And trust me...
Or if you are that speculative, take a look in the files sometime after such a patch. I HAVE seen new things before.
My guess is that this has something to do with the Black Kat event, since it has been happening in the gamecyber servers for a while now. But they usually announce when an event is happening. Just a theory (a game theory).
Every time I see patch notes like these, I get my hopes up thinking the issues I've bug reported (inconsistent arrow key movement, poor choices of lazy loading) have been fixed. Every time, I am disappointed...
I will be spoiling if I say where on the folders you can find possible new stuff?
