I love the ignore feature and have a rather robust ignored list - somewhere close to 400. I really like this feature mainly because it reduces the amount of text on my screen by removing chat, or potential chat, that I want to ignore. Additionally, the social absence of certain players improves the game immensely for me.

There are various reasons why I put someone on ignore.

1) Entire conversations in a foreign language

2) Begging

3) Cussing

4) Spamming nonsense

5) Insulting remarks

6) Stalking me

6) Players whom I have no desire to interact with socially due to their personality

Putting someone on ignore also prevents them from sending me mail. Funny, though, if I take them off ignore, the sent mail suddenly appears in my inbox.

One thing I don't like about the ignore feature is people don't know thay are on ignore. I wish some kind of automated message, perhaps even written by the player who is using the ignore feature, were sent to a player who attempts to send a private message or mail to someone who has them on ignore so we wouldn't be waiting for a response. Well, the mail comes back after 30 days if it hasn't been opened, but...

I know some players never use the ignore feature or dislike it.

Yes, anyone who has ever pulled the "I'm not getting on until you give me ____." when the next level is an arena. That really provokes my contempt and ire.

Go ahead, mods, ban me, I am tired of this, banning me would be a blessing, at least I never have to read another of her thread, or getting on SK forum.

So you ignored 400 ppl on SK, big deal, I never ignore ppl because I like it when ppl call me names, I love the agner on their faces, so exquisite. As for Mawa, we all know you made some short story for the sole intent of insulting those of us who rubbed you the wrong way. You called ur self the 'dragon princess', those two words are too cliche on their own already and you managed to combine them both in the most shameless manner. Dragon princess, ugh, how many white knights have you already had? Lionheart, darkcub and a some new ones whose name I couldn't bothered to remeber, you covered your self in a fantasy, thinking that no one can destroy it, once some one tried to unviell it, you respond by ignoring him/her, all this in an attempt to keep your illusion alive. It is a game Mawa, no ignore list can protect you from reality.

Critiqueing the fashion of the upper 2% of the SK community while not giving a damn about the rest, you ignore haters as well as those who would like to correct the error of your statements. I am sure I am "those Players whom I have no desire to interact with socially due to their personality" and guess what, I never wanted to interact with you due to your personality as well. Phony, that is the word I am looking for, phony, nothing more. I hate it when ppl try to be what they are not, call one self god only to have his face shredded the moment after. Xerexes swipes the blood out of his face as leonidas grins at him with his last breath, 'you are just a man' say leonidas's eyes as his sould detached from his body. (and that was my favourite moment from 300)

I know why you want ignore noticfication, you wanted it just so you can shove it to the person you ignored that the 'almighty dragon princess' has just swiped that person down below the carpet and never to be seen again. Strangely enough , below that carpet, I found people with great opnions, personalities as well as humility, something you desperately lack of. You can call us trolls, deviants, scums of the internet or what ever you prefer, go, go back to your little sancturary where you safe. Go ahead, write about me in your next fan fic, where I am the fallen dragon prince that tried to overthrow you, with the help of arcknightdelta you finally put me down (and you no dbout flirt with him later). But plz, do me this one favour, instead making me a fallen prince, make me into a lowly courtesan who tried to kill you to gain Ozlo/Feron's affection, becasue that is a much more accurate representation of me.

This wolrd doesn't change just because you ignored the problems, you make the world change for the better by solving the problems, not through ignorance and brute force, but through love and understanding.

I hate to ignore ppl because it solves nothing(no it doesn't make my feel better), I hated Japn for what they did in WWII(which they still till today, never admitted them), in the past I often said that "all japs are bad, they are the scums of the earth", but now I realized that it is not true, 99.9% of the Japanesse are just ordinary men and women who just want to get by, and they were killed becasue of the action of the 0.1% of warmongers in their country.

I don't use it myself

I have sort of an internal chat filter in my head. That plus it's not often I meet someone who is able to tangle my wires enough for me to remember that an ignore system exists in Spiral Knights. The one time I have considered it was a random person spouting hate speech in the zone chat who I politely asked to stop, and immediately did.

The ignore list is a fantastic feature indeed. I have a relatively short fuse, so I tend to not put up with more than I absolutely have to. Anyone who behaves in an obnoxious manner, are being rude and insulting, and people who I find generally unpleasant find their way to the ignore list, where they get to sit around 'til New Year. That is when I clean my ignore list to give everyone a chance to start on a new slate. Should their old antics persist, well, they'll find themselves in a familiar spot for another year.

After all, games are for enjoying yourself. Why deal with unpleasant things during the times you want to have fun?

Steps to ignore everything.

I use:

/clear+enter.
enter+^ (up arrow) (remebers last command used in this case /clear)+enter

All I do is repeat step 2 everytime messages come up. So yea, ignore is one way, but /clear+enter then enter+^ (up arrow)+enter repeat is another method. For me it just defeats the purpose of putting ppl on the ignore list.

Fun fact: You, Mawa, can /clear repeat when person you don't want talking then say "I didn't get that can you repeat it?" then report them for spam. (evil thought, but yea) :p

i dont mean to separate anyone. though she is sort of boasting and stuff .... and yes life truly is a miracle .... even scientists are puzzled with things concerning it. all they can do is observe, measure and experiment to uncover physical (and possibly the ethereal/quantum aspects of) reality

I ignore the ignore list *dodges tomatoes*, mainly because I don't have anyone that I would want to permanently block conversation with. If I want to have a conversation with someone I can do it in PM if I have to, I don't care if someone scrolls the chat too fast. If that someone becomes an annoyance, I'll quietly remind them that there is a trade chat they should be using.

Oh, and protip: If you don't like reading spammy trade chat and zone chat and just want the normal white haven chat, you can type /leave 1 and leave 2 to leave Zone and Trade chat, respectively.

My ignore list has 1 resident, a knight who I just couldn't stand talking, and insulting me. I kept asking them to stop, although they persisted.

This resulted in me both ignoring them, and kicking them from my vana run (On d28)

As far as I know there is no way to get rid of the "YOU GOT: USLESS MATERIAL" messages.

I never use the ignore feature, I just go to another haven or just start an arcade run. It's not like I ever talk in Haven anyways.
