If people aren't complaining about Jemps, they are complaining about 21, or Brick squad or Lockdown elites. It is REALLY annoying. I think we we need to update the ToS if you ask me...
Actually, OOO should just threaten characters that complain about AT, revs, or guilds with bans. It seems evil, but it would make our community like .5% better. It isn't much, however it is improvement.
Ardent-Light the Dictator now signing off. >:D
Could we stop complaining about Guilds?
inb4 Dibs's friends speculate on who're the good friends.
I share Dibs's sentiments about the repetition of certain gear; if only OOO could balance everything so that there would be a more diverse array of enemies instead of fighting a clone of the same enemy for the entire match.
Most of the guild trashing is related to PVP though, unless you somehow create a guild that becomes notorious for trolling in the Arcade or something, lol.
Trashtalk in PVP context is alright, I guess, but generalizations are stupid.
I at least know that Jempire was a social guild and its size means that there will definitely be at least a few people who play in PVP. There's no reason to generalize about them outside of the context of PVP, and even within it, they're large enough that the generalizations don't even apply to most of them lol.
As far as 21 goes, no. I've seen some really stupid generalizations about them. Yeah, some of them are amazingly rich, have crazy UVs, heart pendants, Acherons, Polaris.
Well, I'm in the guild, and I don't. I'm dirt-poor (ayy F2P), have trash UVs on the weapons I actually use, don't own any heart pendants, acheron, nor pulsar line. NONE OF THOSE.
more:
- Some guy went off ranting on me talking about how "everyone in 21 spams toothpick and AT" ... long before I even made one. I was a gunner the entire game :| Anyone who follows the records thread or knows anything about the mechanics of AT would also know that it doesn't even work when you're moving while shooting mobile guns.
- I made friends with someone after joining his conversation from off-screen and then he was surprised when I walked on-screen and realized I was in Twenty One, as if nobody in the guild could possibly be nice or socialize lol.
- A certain other guildmate was also subject to verbal abuse when she was just playing for fun.
If you have issues, bring it up directly with the 'offending' players. Everyone else is collateral damage. :|
"If you have issues, bring it up directly with the 'offending' players. Everyone else is collateral damage. :|"
*ahem* America.
On a more serious note, The Jempire is the top LD guild (only because they farm themselves to death, but they're at the top nonetheless).
Also, I honestly give everyone a fair chance, but when 99% of the player's I meet from a guild are the exact same a**holes that just have different names, it's hard to not generalize the entire guild. I know a few pretty nice Jemps and some pretty nice 21's, but they dug their own graves with all the crap and tryharding they do, when all they're really doing is ruining the PvP aspect of the game (which, with the Radiant drought, is now a major part of something that many players do on a daily basis). So those guilds that are name-and-shamed dug their own graves from being mostly made up of ridiculous [redacted] who just spend hundreds on the game and act like complete and selfish idiots in-game.
So my apologies if you see me and I treat you wrongfully, but if you don't like it then maybe you should just leave the guild.
Or you can be like the Jemp's and pretend that everyone's jealous of you (when they're really not), and it's all just a boost to their awesome little 'ego' that they think they've built up.
we would be better off just saying "ardent-light cannot make threads" and that anyone who violates the rule should be banned
@ tenkii: obligatory
I have created a thread thus deeming your statement false! Ha!
On a more serious note; I think I'd make a good dictator. My dad says I hold communist views, and my friends say I use too many political terms.
"...acheron, nor pulsar line. NONE OF THOSE."
:o Me too... I have to admit I do have one 4* Heart Pendant (a gift, so I feel obligated to use it), and that Gift of Autumn thing.
Catalyzers though.
I mostly agree. I don't think any trashtalking should happen, though. It's just bad. Either way, it'll happen.
Generalisations are indeed silly. I see people do it in The Jempire and I see people doing it about The Jempire, for example but no matter who does it or what it applies to, it always ends up incorrect and rude. The Jempire has members who don't even participate in GLD and Twenty One has members who are not rude trash talkers.
If you have issues, bring it up directly with the 'offending' players.
The best thing you can do here is actually to report and ignore someone if they're actually breaking the terms of service.
Yes, how about we have OOO take away freedom of speech!
Well I do need something to complain about. So why would you take that away from meIMEANus?
Krakob: I don't think any trashtalking should happen, though. It's just bad. Either way, it'll happen.
Saying stuff to taunt the other team before the match is fine, calling people out to a rematch is fine. Trash talk is supposed to psyche someone out with the tradeoff that it makes you look really stupid if you lose - and if you do, you'll just have to take the shame for doing it.
Complaining about AT/weapon-you-lost-to isn't trashtalking - that's just being a sore loser. That can go away.
But as much as it'd be nice, you just can't expect people to know how to lose, especially online.
¬_¬ having been in the situation of playing competitively for money in-person, I at least know what it's like to shake hands with someone who just beat you, look them in the face and say, "Good game, I was outplayed" and want to do better next time.
Like a Republican and a Democrat will never shake hands, a Jempire and a Twenty-One would never shake hands.
But in this situation, Krabob the Jempire Striker and Tenkii the Twenty-One God of Gunning actually are shaking hands with each other.
This will be recorded in history.
(Wait, I read it again. Whenever did Krabob compliment Twenty-One?!)

A thread complaining about complaining, I think I've seen this before..
Nope, this is totally new, carry on..
Totally original idea
How many alts do you need to change a lightbulb?
Who are the Jemps, 21, Brick squad, or Lockdown elites?
Never heard of any of them. And who are the people that complain about them?
Oh wait. This must be another escaped thread from here.
I only really know a couple guilds and they have good people (at least the players I know) in them.
PvP must be the source of the problems, not guilds. I think we should make PvP against the ToS. That would fix this problem.
That's not quite my view of trash talking but after having googled it, I guess mine was wrong. I was thinking of insulting others when talking with other others, e.g. me saying that Zeddy is a noob AA bomber to Fehzor and such.
Guilds have proven since the very dawn of Spiral Knights itself to be a go-to source of needless drama. Whether it be Knightmare or Guild or Hat Simulator or Jempire or Lockdown Aces or 21 or what have you. I've seen better drama on the comedy channel.
The only reason I see for joining a guild anymore is to avoid random guild invite spam.
- Click mail
- click mark all as read
- close mail
- /clear (as Myst said)
repeat every new guild invite.
Can we stop creating threads asking to stop something that can't be stopped?
I could do that.
Or I could continue crying because all they do is spam Polaris/Acheron and it ruins PvP, and more specifically, one of the only ounces of fun that I can salvage from this Radiant-ridden place called Spiral Knights (assuming my good friends aren't on).
Bricksquad and LDE are okay in my book.
