Is SK still worth playing?

I've been really strapped on TF2, and just kept losing the urge to play SK since I got my Froster. I haven't been on since then. Tours n' stuff.

Is it really worth it to get back in? My shortage of sparks from grinchlin assault (294-244) made a huge impact on this. I know I still have only 3 more sets to make, but I just can't find it in me to keep going.

I have no mouth and I need to scream

It is when you meet other people, socialize, and actually do something other than boss runs.

its worth to play or not its up to you, well look at this side: you have time playing the game, you did everything in the game and you cant try new weapon because you dont feel that $20.00 USD to level 1 one single piece of 5 star equipment is worthy, you get bored of the everyday vanaduck run, the lack of diversity in levels and monsters... then do you think it worth to play?

for old players like me or maybe you no, because well if at least arcade payout would be more than vanafarming or others levels where you can go and get well rewarded then you feel that you have many options where to play without stick in one place... but not, then that lack of diversity make you feel that the game doesnt worth (KEEP IN MIND: this is only on one single perspective as old player, many people have different opinion about that).

but then again is up to you. i honestly have spent time with starbound and an awesome game called La-Mulana. spiral knight i just log on, give the cr of the maintenance then i log off. also spent a few time in TF2, i already learned to play with demoman and i have fun with my strange grenade launcher which i named: Lanza Tamales MK IV. fun stuff.

my 2 cents

It's worth playing to have fun with friends

It's not worth playing to get somewhere in SK...

Like I mentionned to a friend: So a casual "radiant grind" is a 2 hour long run? for 50-70 radiants? No ty, I like hop on a game and grind a bit and go do something else. The fact that I have a legit lvl 98 zon on Diablo II is because I can see the xp bar growing even at lvl 98 (takes a lot of chaosnbaal run but it does!) so that's a little satisfactory boost. Throw me a bone and I'll keep playing. Throw me nothing and I won't play the game...

SL isn't casual and was (and "will always be") optional to SK universe.

If there was some sort of way to make items again I would still play a lot... but after 50 items 5* lvl 10 and cannot upgrade only 3 to lvl 10 is raging so much that even ragebuying isn't an option. It's ragequit... literally.

^5* gear is so0oooo much better than 4* mirite

that 30 damage is so enviable

jk, I get you. Even if the end result isn't actually that satisfying, it becomes discouraging when you can see that you can progress, but you're artificially blocked.

---

It is when you meet other people, socialize, and actually do something other than boss runs.

^ That's pretty much it.

It's partly why I spend most of my time playing PVP. People there are lively lol.
I have friends in-game who I don't have on my friends list, but recognize and talk to often just because we'd run into each other in Lockdown so much.
It's an unfortunate sideeffect that there are so few (but recognizable) 'regulars' that I don't need to add them in order to count on meeting them again lol.

---

@Sweet-Hope:
The magic in PVE is when there are new things and situations that you haven't seen before, and danger to encourage you to work together with your teammates. At the point that you already recognize the patterns in the stages and know the patterns from monsters to the point that you don't need to be careful, it becomes stale. If you're endgame, who cares what the crown payout is? You don't need crowns to keep playing anymore. At that point, you play the game for fun, and if it's not fun, then you put it down. No guilt in doing so. Games are an ever-present battle against apathy. If they can't get you to care enough to play, they've lost.

.payout:
I'm endgame and 'poor', and the only thing worth getting for me are Radiants. If I'm feeling 'greedy', then all I'll want to do is get to depth 28 ASAP, ultimately throwing away all the pretty art, level design, monster challenges, that there might have been along the way.

---

@Tweeter:
Honestly, if you were to stop playing SK until an update comes, I'd wait for the Arcade Redux. I already know my friends won't care enough to come back if the gunner update happens (LOL@ all you people who think it's important) so I'm not even planning to remind them about SK until the Arcade or Boss updates happen.

A dark word

If you find no joy in SK, leave. No loss there.

However, if you still find a spark of fun in SK, keep on playing. If you do it enough, perhaps you can kindle the spark into a fire again. I wish you best of luck on the rest of your journey.

Tell that to all Endgamer player who spent 24/7 days in vana, from the 100% of the game playerbase, 10% only play for fun, 90% play for the sake of crown, this what make arcade and many other place so empty. idc about payout as i always play for fun, but if i have to play alone 100% the time because 2 or 3 brainless people want to play vanaduke for the sake of crown, then yes i care about levels should have an equal crown payout or arcade have more payout just for the sake to play with other players try other levels that isnt a fire theme place filled with brainless zombies and trojans.

@Hope

FSC farmers aren't typically endgame players, they're new players that need crowns to buy gear so that they can prepare for the endgame, which consists of hoarding so that you can crush the next update that dare challenge your greatness.

3 Days in, level 100 battle sprite? Oh yeah.

The things the endgame requires are often bizarre and strange. Like 1000 snarbolax coins, or ice resistance Max+Max+Med, and it is up to you to shoot as often into the dark as you can, such that when OOO releases GitM, you can put on your shock max Chaos + shock max Mercurial Demo Suit and make it happen.

A lot are though... a lot of unknown PvE guild do vana 24/7... WoL is one of them... even if they are end-game, they need cr to get more stuff... no end-game player is perfect, you always want an item or something... XD I know a lot of people that as over 50 5* items lvl 10 because it was sheer fun and accessible. As a bomber I made a gunslinger driver set just for giggles, because I could. I made all SL armor except Heavenly... not because they are good, but because I could and it was a fun goal to have. There is no fun in making items anymore. It's a chore, it's a pain and is wayy to frustrating against RNG to be satisfying.

It's like OOO want you to have a Zod in D2 to upgrade your item fully... And somehow I think a Zod rune is easier to find than upping all my SK items... because farming chaosnbaal is not a chore in any way shape or form. It is fun.

"If you find no joy in SK, leave. No loss there. "

Sorry to correct you, but the loses are that I distrusted my honor of my dad accidentally finding SK for me, and breaking my eternal love and bond with it with the proof of 5$ dollars on OCH.

Boss runs are okay, hell they're still fun as ever. I just can't find the urge to play.

@Shamalana

"t's not worth playing to get somewhere in SK.."

That's where you're wrong because I always want to be the best at what I love. Not to mention it's always been a life policy of mine to get somewhere or make progress to somewhere by the end of the day.

You only have 3 sets to make, once you make them nothing will happen. When it comes to gaming, the most exciting part (to me at least) is to discover the unknown and conquer it. You already know everything. Find a more interesting way to waste time.

They have messed up too many things lately. Wait til radiants and gunner update comes out if you want something to look forward to, otherwise don't bother it's just the same thing as it is when you left.

Give the game its own value

Just because you like other games doesn't mean you can't like this one. Give the game a reason, play it for fun, and if you aren't having fun then do something else. Sometimes I like to play Spiral Knights, other times I want to have some fast paced co-op in Payday 2, or maybe I want to scare my socks off in Amnesia. Don't think you're restricted to one game, and don't feel obligated to make a big deal about playing a different game - we all play games, and we all have different tastes. You're not "wrong" for playing other games instead of Spiral Knights.

:/

Let's analyse what is there left in SK that is still worth playing. And I personally believe that Nick left coz he bite off way more than what he can chew with this whole spiral knight thing, this universe is unique, sure, spiral knights are original, good, but the lack of content and the freemium system this game is designed for obiviously killed Nick's dream of making this game great, this game is now as good as it can possibly be, and he tried his best.

What is left for me in this game:
-compelting Kat eye hood, not gonna heat it to lvl 10 though, it is kinda meaningless
-one or two shadow lair and I will rest in peace
-get a set of sick costumes, nothing really intrests me, the costumes released this year and the year before have been crap
-gunner update, get a fire polaris and maybe one of the new 'gun' combine it with my kat eye cowl and shadow sun, my gunner set would be complete
-get CoA even though I have dread skelly shield already
-finish leveling up my sprite, who is right now lvl 93
-get him a harness
-get some more prestiege, god knows why I want that, I guess my Ego is too proud to let me quit this game
-to support my guild, they still need money
-make Fan art for NJ, Digi and some other people
-complete my fanfic
-spread hate on forum

What I need is a stiff drink....

I feel like ounce you decide to plunge into the world of gaming and long time gaming your going to run into things you do and don't like about a game. I guess if your still around that mean's the good out weighs the bad and if you've lost interest after the months or in some people's cases like yours, years... then it just mean's maybe it's really time to start enjoying a new game. This is NOT however a black and white topic and there is no correct answer. It's just whatever works for you. I mean I hear of plenty of people saying they're not quitting, but don't know if they're coming back and about half of them come back maybe a month or maybe a year later and enjoy the game as much as when they first started. And the other half I haven't seen since.

I tend to ride in a small boat. I find a game, I get hooked, I play till my brain is over the cliff, down the steam and back again. Then I leave and look for something else and I never look back. I know that day will come with SK for me. Could be a month from now, could be 5 years down the road. I will gripe and kick and scream, but in the end, I have to really be ready to leave. When you are though, don't second guess and just keep your feet (proverbial of course) moving. Last "never ending" mmorpg I played, I did for almost 4 years, and the one before that nearly two... It's just my way, as everyone has their own. If a game is molded to fit one person perfectly it's then imperfect for someone else now, just the way things go.

*takes a sip of my whiskey*

I've always found these topics interesting, but not for why most people seem to think, and for sure most SK (at most of the people who I see post) users, that it's a question of one's self and not the person asking the question. But why do you come up with the answers you do? I guess this wouldn't be the place or age group to try and discuss it? But it's a thought isn't it? Why do we assume things? Why do we project likes and dislikes onto people who we've known for all of no time at all but the words written into a box and think we have them figured out. And still hold the power to affect them and their lives and yet we don't blink an eye and do as we please with that power. Humans are great but so silly and ignorant it is down right dumbfounding. I come speaking heavy words on a not so heavy topic, for that I do apologize.
