Right, if your back is completely against a wall (touching it), then the projectiles always fail. But if your back is just kind of close to the wall, then the projectiles may also fail, depending on how close you are.
The text that you're talking about is probably the result of an editor not wanting to do an exact measurement of how close you have to be. Feel free to edit.
