I am a 4 star knight who is working on 5 star armor, but I want to take my salamander set to arcane set. I am aware that I will need to complete a SL to get to the sanctuary and craft the set, but I need to know some other information too. I am thinking of Snarby SL so most of these questions revolve around Snarby SL.
How many depths is the Snarby SL?
Will a 4 star knight be able to survive in normal on Snarby SL( I have done Vana on elite and normal several times?
How many sparks of life do you think I would need?
How much money do you usually make from Snarby SL?
Will grey owlite shield be horrible for Snarby SL?
What is the main damage delivered?
Would I be able to find a group to carry me a little?
More information about me: I have salamander set, grey owlite shield, and soon will have combuster and sentenza soon(may change what I upgrade depending on what you tell me) , plus im working on upgrading twisted snarble barb.
I will post more questions soon, I just need to remember some of them, thanks!

I wouldn't recommend trying to get Shadow Lair Armor as your first 5*.

@Bitsbee

It will take months to heat up 5* armor.

Straight-Line

You would probably get a better answer when someone has seen your experience in-game. Although I see you are wanting answers so:

  1. there are no difference in number of depths
  2. no knowledge of your experience
  3. nk
  4. crown payout will vary upon number of deaths
  5. nk
  6. shadow, elemental, and pierce
  7. nk

First of all don't worry

First of all don't worry about the cr pay out its not worth it. The depths are the same as normal snarbolax. And for weapons combuster is a good choice but if you can keep it at lv 10. Sentenza is not good for snarby sl but a piercing weapon is. Many knights may even carry you & you will need at least 15 sparks but it may depend on if you stay away from monsters. Your shield is not the best for the occasion but if its the only one you have go with it. Also there is this room after the boss which you have to complete shadow passage I think?

Disregarding everything you said. If you don't have a decent team that don't know what they are doing, make careless mistakes and get themselves all killed you won't have a chance. Get a good team, people who have done Snarby SL before and go with them. I did my first SL run in ASH tail set and 5 star weapons and shield. I died once, but I had an awesome team so it helped. Now I can solo Snarby SL easy. Unfortunately I don't play a lot these days so I can't help you. But there will be many awesome guys and gals out there who are itching to do SL runs, so if they don't mind carrying you through then all the better for you.

BTW, FSC is a piece of cake compared to SL.

To be honest...

If you have one experienced player in your team, I think the Ice Queen shadow lair is the easiest of them now (ever since the sprite update and apocrean weapons).

All you need is one person on your team to have AoA (the fire-status bomb) and VV (poison-status bomb) or other poison weapons and the battle becomes laughably easy.
You can check the spread of damage types by looking at the wiki page and notice that the ice queen only has 2 non-pierce monsters while snarby has a good variety of monster damage types. Your weapons also seem to fit Ice Queen better.

The material for the Arcane is from doing UFSC though... Unless, that is, you bought two Maiden's Tears off from the AH.

Sidenote- What 4* gear would you be taking with you? Salamander Set?

•"How many depths is the Snarby SL?"

Same as normal Gloaming Wildwoods, plus one very special part (personally my favourite part of Shadow Lairs).

•"Will a 4 star knight be able to survive in normal on Snarby SL( I have done Vana on elite and normal several times?"

That depends on your skill.

•"How many sparks of life do you think I would need?"

Depends on your party. Around 5 should be fine.

•"How much money do you usually make from Snarby SL?"

Assuming someone else didn't use the Shadow Key for free, you'd lose a bit of money.

•"Will grey owlite shield be horrible for Snarby SL?"

Everything except its Normal defense is worthless (except for the couple Lumbers you may see).

•"What is the main damage delivered?"

If you're asking which damage you'll be doing, then Piercing/Elemental. If you're asking the main damage you'll be taking, then Shadow.

•"Would I be able to find a group to carry me a little?"

If you're doing it on Normal, a lot of Vanguards will turn you down unless you give them a bargain for their Shadow Key payment.

Thanks

Hey everyone thanks for the answers, some things u asked me:
My experience as far as I can describe is being able to do Vana dying once or twice throughtout the whole mission.
I will be using salamander suit if I have to go that route or if I decide to go volcanic and make a new suit
I will get all the stuff needed for crafting before I go to SL, including the maiden's tears.
I just found a guild member who has a shadow key, but he is still working on upgrading, he will be like me though and have 4 star armor and helm, but 5 star weapons and shield and possibly I found some people to go with us. We plan to do it in about a month, so that gives me time to get money and all the things needed for crafting, and I only have to pay 400ce for entry because he is giving me a guild discount.
Any other advice you can give will be great

My remarks may seem mean, but I'm not trying to be mean. I am trying to give you an honest opinion.

Have you read the wiki page "Shadow Lair"? It gives you general guidelines for equipment. The armor you want for Shadow Gloaming Wildwoods (SGWW) would be normal, piercing, shadow, and poison, with beast and undead bonuses. And you're talking about wearing Salamander, which has normal, elemental, and fire, with slime bonus. This is one of the least suitable armors for SGWW. Combuster and Barbarous Thorn Blade would be great weapons for SGWW. Sentenza would not.

Most people who do Shadow Lairs can sail through FSC without any deaths. A lot of that is simply practicing FSC, but some of it is general SK skill. So try to practice hard. I recommend levels with lots of kats and howlitzers. A strong party can carry you, even if you have weak equipment and not-excellent skills. Try to recruit some more experienced people.

Are you sure that you want Arcane Salamander? In my view, it is one of the worst armor sets in the game. Its protection (elemental) doesn't match up with its offensive bonuses (slimes and beasts, which inflict piercing). Its bonuses are both +1, which are hard to work into an optimized set.

Your defenses don't match up

You sound more prepared for a red Romulus twins run in terms of weapons and armor. I can't speak from experience there, but as Bopp said, look at the wiki for tips and stuff.
