Steam version uses own java

Steam version uses own java virtual machine, so probably you have to update it manually.
1. make copy of "Steam\steamapps\common\Spiral Knights\java_vm"
2. remove content of "Steam\steamapps\common\Spiral Knights\java_vm"
3. put there all from "C:\Program Files\Java\jre7"

Sorry you just didn't give enough details. The most I presumed was outdated java resources. This may be the solution you are looking for

Sorry, I still don't understand the issue, seems like a lot of contradiction, is it possible that you have recently upgraded any software (java, drivers, even the windows OS)? My main suspicion is still towards the java program (possible 64-bit java on 32-bit OS?). Or perhaps corrupted data (bad patching).

It is rather inefficient to troubleshoot here, so if you want more helpful tech devils, just ask for support @ http://www.spiralknights.com/support/#requests

Game Master
Greetings,

The graphics solution you are using is known to be problematic with Spiral Knights. In some cases it can be made to work by updating the graphics driver to the final release Intel made for Windows. Since this graphics card is not fully compatible with Spiral Knights updates to the game or Steam may cause problems.

If you want to update the drivers please try following these steps:
1) Download the correct driver for your version of Windows from the Intel Download Center and save the installer to an easily found location.
2) Open the Device Manager from the Start Menu.
3) Expand the "Display adapters" list and right-click the listed device. Select Uninstall and make sure the delete driver software box is selected.
4) Press OK to start the uninstall. NOTE: The screen flickering and resolution changing is a normal part of this process.
5) Restart your computer.
6) Launch the installer for the new drivers that were downloaded. Follow the installation wizard's instructions to finish the process.
