I thinks this video will at least somewhat make an impression on how we tend to get angry or frustrated in PVP. This user explains valid issues on the aspect of PVP and why it's (sometimes) feels broken. I just think we can all learn something from this video. This guys channel has some interesting topics covered so check the channel if you are interested (sure they are not spiral knights videos but,l they are still valid topics)

EDIT: I did not make this thread to complain. I made this thread to try and stop or at least get people thinkeing above AT users in and out of PVP.

So.. you're saying that UVs

So.. you're saying that UVs offset Lockdown and invalidate it? Yeah, that's why Lockdown isn't taken seriously outside of the small community that follows it.

Like, every time I use voltaic tempest, strikers wearing skolver run through it and murder me. This means that anyone could be immune to my bombs and that I have no idea whether they are or not-- the same goes for heart pendants. I don't use trinkets, and I only have 3 weapon slots, so I am forever at a disadvantage. When I go striker, I can't do that without using mercurial set, and my swords don't magically strike with ASI VH every time out of nowhere.

Even if it is "mostly skill based", it just isn't the way the game was meant to be played, and it makes the game feel entirely unfair.

Watched the whole vid, and I feel for the guy. I'd do the same thing but probably with a bit more profanity :)

The only hacking I've ever seen were cases when the CE market spikes up to unbelievable levels for a short time, which might allow several people who catch this to sell 100 CE for like 50k+ crowns. The one time I was actually witness to this OOO apparently caught it and it was back to around 7K in about 20 minutes. The biggest benefit it could give someone would be accelerated UVs on their gear before they earned it in due time, but in general even that is managable. Ping, smarts, and reaction time are way higher on the tier list compared to UVs... besides perhaps bomb walking, but that can be worked around.

Just my two cents.

-Generic Subject Line-

Yeah I feel yah...I can't tell you how many times I've been a recon who has been cloaked for enough time to have the cloak bar be only 1/4 full and all of a sudden a striker zips out of nowhere, precision spam stabs me with a flourish, and zooms off in a beeline to yet another cloaked recon. Honestly that is the thing that gets me, I play recon because I get massive freeze issues and framerate drops when I'm running around at the speed of sound and the fact that my primary class is completely invalidated by people who screw around with the game files is one reason why I force myself not to seriously engage in PvP in Spiral Knights. I tend to die a lot anyway, and I'm fine with that, a lot of people are better than me and I can actually marvel at the skill of a lot of people, but when people cheat and are doing so VERY obviously, it just ruins the experience, and it happens so often that I rarely play lockdown. Whatever, blast network is more fun anyway =P

I can feel your recon pain

I am primarily a recon and absolutely hate the fact that people can see where I am when I'm supposedly cloaked. Be it acute notice to footsteps or an actual modification of the files, it just invalidates the entire class. It's as if you take a striker's boost away but let them keep the damage bonuses.

sigh...

But that's what we all have to deal with in terms of all PvP games. Best we can do is report them and move on.

Erm...

The game was designed for recons to be unseen until they attack/get damaged. The only thing you should be able to notice is if one is nearby (due to deathmark). I've heard of the "footstep" argument, but havent seen them myself. Then again, I almost never play LD. I stay away from PvP because if there is a way for players to not play fair... they will utilize it.

I consider AT fair.
I do not consider viewing invisible things fair.

Footsteps are there. They're super visible in Downtown and Avenue. Additionally, one can modify the graphics of the dust that footsteps are to be more visible and bam, Recons are visible.

I closed the video when I saw it was Dark Souls.

Don't compare this game to Dark Souls.

dibs (post #8)

...and you didn't read the whole post? I'm trying to get people to take topics from other games and turning them into spiral knights terms. At the end of the day don't all games revolve around one concept to have fun and not complain if you win or lose and not turn pvp into a grudge match?
