Um, recently I had a dread skelly helmet, and volcanic plate armour and volcanic plate shield. I was using a Warmaster Rocket hammer and a Gigawatt Pulsar. Does that make me useless? I got booted for not having a blitz or shivermist. Please advise

There are good "party" weapons and good "soloing" weapons... as said above, those more cause of concern people around you in a party then help unless you've really mastered them. The people you were with were just too weak to want to deal with a different playing style that wasn't "team efficient" so to speak most likely.

You answered your own question OP. You must bring at least one of those if you don't want to be kicked by pubbies. Consider getting some friends for FSC.

Why do people make judgements on gear? ...Wrong gear or suboptimal gear can hurt the other party members, if you are dying and not pulling your share in killing but the monsters still have the extra health from you being in the party. Not bringing appropriate gear can also be a sign that someone does not yet have the gear/experience for a certain level or boss.

This is why
I only do FSC runs with my friends and guildmates. They don't care I use a Polaris (it has ASI high and Undead high so it's like a 5* sword but it's a gun).

from my memory I've never been kicked from an FSC run for my loadout, and I've always gone with a sudaruska, pepperbox, and recently a storm driver.
and you know what, with my friends I can still usually defeat vanaduke. My beloved Suda wipes out groups of zombies witha much more satisfying than a brandish, and with a vortex bomb it's incredibly safe too.
I don't know why people have a problem with other people playing the game how they want to rather than using all overpowered stuffs. Darn elitists!
Anyone with volcanic plate deserves to run FSC, it's the best shield for the stratum no questions.

Basically, as has been said already, gear is important. Basically, most people in public parties have two goals: get lots of cr, and get it done really fast. That set of gear isn't going to help them get it done at an optimal speed. Using Polaris really heavily is extremely annoying to many people, as the sound is irritating, it fills the screen, and overall pushes enemies away, which is unnecessary considering they're all weak as can be. Hammers are also somewhat annoying, as they can push enemies around a lot, and are really more suited for soloing. If you wanted to avoid getting booted, bring one of the elemental brandishes (preferably not Combuster) and a blitz or shiv. Secondary weapons like Polaris are acceptable if used in moderation, although alchemers are pretty good (can replace Brandishes), as well as Final Flourish or DA.
Dread Skelly and Volcanic Plate won't get you very far with public parties, either. If you use swords mainly, get Chaos, Snarby, or Vog.

Because most people who make Brandishes right now can't fully heat them, so a level 1 Combuster charge will send enemies away and deal mediocre damage when the Vortex would've allowed everyone to spam.

Back when I played FSC elite with free elevators, my requirements were full 4* armor or better (not full pierce defense), and a lvl 10 strike/atomic refridgerator/4* poison needle, or a Blitz/Shiv/Plague unless you have a Polaris and lots of sparks and ASI.
Now I would probably let anyone who brought some decent weapons in.
You're using two combined weapons that force enemies into different ranges, especially from teammates. They effectively make you "play like you're solo'ing" while in a party of others.
Of course I bet you love hitting the enemies with those weapons, but others want in on the smackdown as well.
To be honest, I'm not surprised you were removed from a party.
