This entire update is perfect. There is quite literally nothing that I would do to improve it except perhaps add tortodrones into the clockworks randomly, and I'm not sure that that hasn't been added.
February 26 Update - Discussion
It's to not burn out the players from it, I guess. Also to make people play the game longer than usual before it's gone. But I don't like it either, it could have been a raid boss instead.
Why did you change color of the floor on minimap, at now it have the same color with background. Maybe you can change color of background?
Is it me again, or there is another patch? I just got kicked from the game in the MIDDLE of a Danger Mission >:(
...that there are actually "normal" Tortodrones found in the clockworks during this event?
Something rather important has come up. You know how they added all those one-way doors to D25 of FSC? Well, that's all well and good, but double-check the way the Rocket Puppy room is set up. There's now half a one-way door and half ... nothing.
That's right, a missile from that construct can now follow you out of the room.
Is this a bug or an unintended feature? I personally find it incredibly annoying: before, if someone screwed up in there, the problem was isolated to that room. Now simply walking nearby can result in getting hit by a missile. Very annoying oversight there.
Dear OOO to whom it may concern
I wanted to write a well written post about how OOO should try to use its next few patches with a "we've got something to prove" attitude but I am sorry I am just to shocked at how little you think of your players and their critical thinking ability.
The way you do your patches physically hurt me and makes me want to throw up.
You just lost a Lead Designer. Players are have been calling you out for constantly reskinning, rehashing content, ignoring in game bugs, not listening to the player base, doing nothing for players with latency/lag problems, your inability to balance gear such as shard bombs, magnus line, cobalt, mad bomber etc. The lore is weak, the alpha squad of hand pick knights are a joke and likely died to pink jelly cubes while lagging into spike traps, nothing in the clockworks is a real threat to actual players. Players have quit on you by the thousands since release. You have a history where players have tried to organize boycotts against you by not buying CE.
The public has to feel sorry for you and make excuses for you such as; they have a small development team, the game is dying but people shouldn’t express their frustrations on the forum because it’ll scare away new players, players should keep paying money to support the game even if patches are weak because we should be grateful.
OOO, you have absolutely everything to prove.
Yet here you take a legacy monster which people fond memory/nostalgia/anticipation and instead of doing justice by it you fold it into a never-ending reskinning grinding plot. Why are there only two PvP coliseum games? Why are there only 3 battle sprites? Why is there only one Pay to Play mission (OCH)? Why is there been only 4 danger missions and the one t2 boss since 3 years? This is all evidence of poor follow through and lack of direction. Things are just created and left to the wayside. Therefore it not surprising Tortodrones get one room, as another summoner “boss” fight to add fake difficulty, a “fight” that only lasts a minute and is only available as an event for little more than one week. Why even release OCH as p2p in the first place if you can’t design more levels to add to a p2p missions tab. Why gate shadowlairs with a key that takes 12 FSC's of profit when you are only going to have 4 of them. This is especially perplexing given that it is glaringly obvious OOO has difficultly even designing free to play levels and bosses efficiently. Tortodrones should have been used in a more epic and meaningful manner one way or another. The game needed more options for places to fight, this is a grindfest masquerading as an action/adventure game*.
The strongest pillar behind the game must be the ability to design new levels be them regular clockworks, danger mission, t1, t2, t3 bosses, t4 and the core, and if you choose to go that direction p2p. Here come the forum excuses replaying in my mind, “it takes time/resources to make good content.” Ok that’s fine except when we can use critical thinking and counter arguments. Take this event, Tortodrones have not been in the game since beta. So given years the product that is turned out is a One room-One minute fight-here for a limited time.
Your patches are a way to restore faith to veteran players, an opportunity to bring back retired players, and a reassurance to new players that it is worth investing time, money, effort into this world you've created. OOO put on your big boy pants get your head in the game and show us something.
My perspective is not the same as most because I am a minority player and did not want to write this for the forum users but to OOO to read:
-Played since release
-Over 100 days in game time
-Grinded hundreds if not thousands of fsc and back in the day arenas.
-Spent money on the game to supplement the grinded crowns but haven’t spent for a while
-Has not needed to craft in almost two years because gear is already optimized. Thereby has complete immunity to negative externalities from patches such as “Radiant crisis”or when CE prices became +9k/100 etc
-Views the core of the game as action/combat not a dress up game
-Played with truly skilled/gifted sk players and guildmasters who quit because of reasons ranging from boredom to crippling lag to assorted confusion, anger and rage at OOO
---------------------
*more options on places to fight provides players the result they want from the game, fun.
Example if the shadowlairs did not need a key, everyone->pick a lair->go have fun
Instead it is Grind ~12 FSCs or ~48 JKs worth of crowns to get 1,800CE->pick a lair->fun
Along those same lines even if a player already has spend hundreds of thousands of crowns to crafted trinkets and gear they must monthly pay ~5 FSCs or ~20 Jks worth of crowns to get slots to have full access to their full power. Throw in that some players are crippled by lag and it puts into question whether or not they should even grind at all or if they should just go do something else for fun.
In contrast of all the (somewhat valid) criticism
Has anyone noticed an overall increase in the drops of rarities? I've been noticing a lot more Sparks of Life, Orbs of Alchemy, and even more Shinings in the levels I've been running. I'm probably going to consider this a stroke of luck, but I'm not ruling out the possibility drop rates were buffed.
the radiants are still rare, yes. But nowhere near as rare as before.
Try looking in the clockworks D26+, that's when they start popping up.
That's great news, Aveond. D26+ seems a lot more fair.
Xyka: I only did T1 & T2 last night (was mainly interested in hunting glyphs :D and didn't have time to go all the way to Core), but I did get two Orbs of Alchemy. Seemed more than I'd seen for a while, though hard to say whether that was luck or an increase in drops. I'd have to do several dives to get a sense of that.
Now remove the achievements from Steam and I would be happy, because on Steam it is still impossible to have 100%, if you haven't got the miner achievements. :/
"Web session game login disabled for Steam accounts."
Is this temporary?
This is great new content!
Thank you all, OOO.
Now about the tortodrones...
Will they still drop stone tortoise shields?
Will they appear in the clockworks again? Or will they be like event monsters (Punkin King and Gourdlings; Grinchlins and winterfest special monsters; black kats; creepcakes etc.) and only show up for the events?
I always wondered what a tortodrone could do to a knight, but now that they're back, I know their power. But, now they're always hostile... I'm slightly sad. Unless they will appear in the clockworks uncorrupted as well.... :)
Also, does OOO update the wiki, or is that up to players in the SK community?
~Elt
The web login disabled for Steam accounts.. probably not
I made a post on bug reports saying the loginbridge.jar needed to be upgraded, but their response was that it wasn't supported when using Steam accounts, sucks that their "fix" was to disable it entirely.
I didn't even care that it froze when clicking your character portrait if you logged in that way, stuff still worked from the party menu
I'll left this question here instead of opening a new thread:
Are the "Fiendish ID Cards" bound? I know the Glyphs aren't, and the Shells are, but I haven't seen anyone saying anything about this Item. I tried a Google Search with no results.
Regardless of the status of the Orbs used to craft them, Yes, they are.
@wavara
he refeers to the advanced orbs that the id card asked before the 27 feb update.
I'm enjoying this mission a ton it's short and sweet and the materials don't take a month to collect or have some crazy absurd drop rate.
The only thing it's missing is a Roaming Tortodrone for GH c:
One question...
I'm a Vanguard. How many materials will I get for doing this mission on...let's say Advanced or Elite? I haven't gotten to do the mission once yet (and I'm really frustrated about it.) and I want to know if I can still get enough mats for a troto shield.
For the most part I really like this update, especially the radiant drop rate increase. A few things that I think would make it better though.
-It is my understanding that the shield bash only hits blocks at the end of the charge. What would make it better is for the bash to have a grazing effect, so that it dreams any block that the player comes into contact with while moving. This would allow it to break multiple 3-hit stone blocks with a single bash. (I've only tried it with the new torto shields, so I'm not entirely sure if this is correct. If the shields already do this, then disregard this comment.)
-It's nice for the shield bash to break blocks, but I still think that giving guns the above mentioned grazing effect will helpful. Maybe this can be added in the Gunner Update (whenever that comes...)
I haven't talked to Tylen yet, or played FSC since the update so once I do I'll probably edit this post to reflect that.
autofire, approximately the data is: normal 2-3(4) shells, advanced 2-4, elite 2-5(6). elite average is still 3, but you have a fair chance of 4.
Three Rings, you've outdone yourselves! This mission is the type I've been craving...it's crazy hard! I can't get enough of it!
Trotodrone, I've missed ya!

I think it's ridiculous that the Tortodrone isn't here to stay. Sure it'll come back... but all this good content is only temporary. Where's the permanent additions to the game? Why can't this be permanent? We get something nice for us to enjoy for a few weeks, but then we have to go back to waiting another few months waiting for the next few weeks to enjoy. If it was permanent, we could enjoy it at our own pace. Stretch it out and keep us liking the game longer.
