More control over which depth you join a pick-up group

This has happened more than a few times. I join a pick-up group to find that they're on floor 12 or 22. Due to the new rules to stop Basil ports I can no longer buy any recipes in this scenario and I've wasted 10 energy if I decide to go back up.

I suggest some sort of depth selection field at the gate selection menu that lets you specify up to what depth you're willing to join. I'd never want to join on any depth that's right before a Basil terminal (3, 12, 22). The other possible solution is just to make sure that you can't join a party that's on depths 3, 12, or 22...but that takes away player choice so I'd prefer the first option.

These days I end up just starting my own open party to bypass this. I'm playing solo in what is ostensibly a multiplayer game. I don't join random parties to skip the early levels but to actually play with other people. The game is far more fun that way. I dislike having to start solo and then hope that people join me later just to make sure I can buy that one recipe I'm looking for should I come across it.

To sum up, when I started playing I'd play with other people more often. The new rules make it so that I feel I need to play...and do play...solo more often. This is a step in the wrong direction in my opinion.

just a note

As far as I know the game automatically sets you in the earliest possible open party in a tier, those times when you end up at D12/22 means there were no open parties prior to that.

if you wanted to buy recipes

if you wanted to buy recipes from basil why dont you just make a new party? theres an option for that and all you do is wait for more party members

So basically my workaround,

So basically my workaround, if I want to always have a shot at recipes, is to create my own group and wait for people...or hope they join up later? This is something that either wastes my time waiting or causes me to play solo. I would think that both of those things would be undesirable.

Also, I did say in my post that I do end up making my own open party. Though, I much prefer to play (even solo) than wait for someone to join as I don't have a lot of time to play. Choosing between waiting for people more than a few minutes or playing solo is a no-brainer when you're low on time.

I also understand there were no parties earlier and so I was put into those depths. I think it's sort of bogus though that I get randomly punished for wanting to join a group. If they were to give you some control over it it'd be nice. Maybe not a field but how about a popup that says something like: "You'll be joining a party at Depth xx, would you like to continue." That can't be very hard to implement considering they already have one for "Can't find party, want to start one?"

All I'm saying is that in their efforts to get rid of Basil ports (a good thing for the recipe market) they've introduced a system which occasionally punishes people who like to join parties and I think it should be addressed somehow.

So the updated suggestion, thanks to the discussion, is to have a pop-up that lets you know what depth you'd be joining and asks for confirmation. This could be an option that can be toggled on/off like the "can't find party" option that pops up currently.

Alternately, if they don't want to let you know what depth you're joining (which is why I originally suggested a field you could fill in), it could just ask for confirmation when joining the depths right before Basil (3, 12, 22) and work normally otherwise.
