Okay. So anyone who hasn't heard about the tortodrones is living under a rock, and anyone who didn't know about the countless performance and gameplay issues hasn't actually fought them yet.
Yesterday these things were pretty grievously powerful (And star rating exclusive, poor lowers.) and are, like all too many patches here in SK, met with an early-on tendency to destabilize the game with the patch. I thought to myself, "you know, OOO will probably pull out an emergency patch tomorrow and maybe even debuff these guys slightly as an apology."
Then the patch came. With it it seems tortodrones were buffed, silkwings were added (these fights are wipe-fests already, been in a dozen parties, all of them are littered with death and frustration that Being dead excludes you from the shell drops. Because this was totally necessary. In fact, I understand the want to lower the potency of leeching, which once again excludes lowers here, but the fact that these fights induce massive "lag" is pretty painful, which is still persisting even after the patch.
But I'm not here to whine about mechanics (regardless as deserved as I think it may be), I'm here to say this:
We know it's not really lag is it? The issues with performance resulting from these fights aren't issues with net connection or bandwidth, they're Memory Leaks which means the longer and more often you run these fights, the further your performance will fall.
You want to buff tortos to make their loot more exclusive? Sure, gives us something to pat ourselves on the back for.
You want to patch some stuff? Great. I hope it fixes things, because it's only a matter of time.
But when we reach a point that a player running 4GB's of ram, >300 MB/s internet connection ,and has only run the first fight of the day is being Frozen so hard these monsterous bosses' ungodly powerful attacks force party members to die unavoidably and miss out on the loot they have invested resources into? On a limited time event? That is something I had to raise my voice about.
I'm here to say: Please, work on this. This is an outrage as far as gameplay is concerned, a disappointment that the patch has not solved this, and a bit of a slip-up that this grievous amount of stuff made it past beta testing.
I know these things don't happen over night, but you're making player's commit economic suicide trying to get into these raids, making them miss the loot by being dead (which is done quite often) and are buffing tortos in the mean time.
I have faith in you guys to sort this out, but the clock is ticking and the pressure is aggravating, and I'm going to have to suggest that in light of these performance issues that you extend the duration of the event because we have to wait to do it for real.
I'm done here, good luck guys, hope you can live up to the expectations of your community. Memory leak issues reported.
Quoted from an earlier post today:
"The game decided to give me the lagspikes during Torto mission just now, instantly sent a rage-F2 to OOO. Died numerous times due the spikes. CPU usage was 50%+ by Java. Memory usage 1.2 gigs. Massive lagspikes every 1-3 seconds. During the battle it ended up going to 2-3 lagspikes EACH SECOND. Desktop and anything outside the client was unaffected. It was just the client that went full r***rd.
GJ."
It's interesting how these issues are not only restricted to my laptop. Even my high end gaming PC suffers from the same issues after a while. Yea I feel like they are memory leaks, tbh Im actually pretty sure of it. This happened a long time ago and now it is happening again. Last time the longer I played the more stutters, freezes I got. They also became a lot more frequent as time passed by eventually resulting in a crash.
