The current norm for Ancient Shells is 2-4, though I saw one person get 5 somehow. Since the Tortodrones are nearly impossible without amazing teams on Elite, I want to know if doing it on Normal or Advanced limits the number of Shells you can get. I don't know how to make Doc spreadsheets, so if Hexzyle or someone could help, that'd be great. I did one Advanced run; I got 3 shells, and my two buddies each got 2. Seems within the norm.

Elite Difficulty
From what I've seen, its about a 40-40-20 chance to get 1, 2 or 3 Ancient Shells per Tortodrone, respectively.
I've gotten 3 shells total a lot of the time, seen a few 4s and 2s and a couple 5s.
Now shhhh, I was on all night and now I'm going to power down.

I've only really done it on elite, and at most gotten five shells. Six looks like the highest possibility.

What I really need is someone who knows how to make a Google Doc Sheet to make one and keep track of the information. So far, it seems to me that difficult decides mostly the Torto's enormous health and the ~200 crowns you get. Woah 200 whole crowns.

I ran a normal with one other
I ran a normal with one other guy. I got 2 shells which is what I've gotten all most elite runs. The only diff is that I used less sparks even though I was lag teleporting the whole match.

Looks hader than it is...
I haven't tried any lower dificulty than elite (As it could mean an ID Card wasted) however. The very least that I got was 1. since one shell broke before I was able to revive myself (Who knows what could i get from it.) However the tortodrones aren't nearly as hard a you perceive them. What you are lacking of is strategy. And this comes form a player who is barely a 5 star. The easiest way to handle their shells to them is stunning them.

Ran another normal this morning. There were 4 players I got 2 ancient shells (1 from each). Two more players got 2 shells and the last player got 4 shells.

Shell Average
From 35 "runs" (counts of the earnings of myself and those who participated in the run) there was an average of 3.4 shells per person, with a variance of approximately 1. One turtle appears capable of dropping anywhere from 1-3 shells, making each run result in 2-6 (although I have never seen a person receive 6). These runs were all preformed on Elite, and it may be worth noting that a fair amount of the data were from before the 2-27 patch.

What you should have done, is instead of counting your 35 total drops from the whole fight, is count your 70 drops per tortodrone. That way we have twice as accurate data on the drops.

I wonder...
I wonder if you get more shells the less you die. I was assuming the more you contributed in damaging the enemies the better you'd do so I've been going in swinging. I've been paying attention and the guys who are either much better than me, those who hide or spend the match dead then revive only at the end seem to be getting more shells in my limited experience.

I got 2 on Elite before. It's likely worth playing March of the Tortodrone on Normal mode.
