Memory leaks getting worse: game is freezing often

I have observed that with the last patch, SK's memory leaking habits have gotten worse. After around 5-6 floors, the game will freeze every 5-10 seconds, making gameplay excruciatingly frustrating. I know some friends are also observing this, and people in my public parties have been experiencing severe lag problems much more often.

I want to put this thread out there so OOO is aware, and so that anybody affected can speak out.

No.1 Don't assume it is memory leaks unless you have concrete evidence for it. For me myself, I have seen no such thing occurring to my game.

No.2 While I observe that many people are experiencing the same situation, a common option people with the problem had was the use of 64-bit java to play the game, whereas people currently utilizing 32-bit java experience no effect. So a possible solution is to switch to 32-bit mode instead.

Showcasing the lagspiking issue

Memory usage by java ~1200MB (I don't think that is normal since nearly all past experiences I got around ~700MB)

Whilst I understand 64-bit java may be pushing a bit on the RAM, it really isn't memory leaks, rather timed performance pauses caused by the poor optimization of 64-bit SK. I'm not really sure what OOO's team is experimenting here, I'd also hope they fix it soon.

It's not pushing my RAM at all. I have 16GB dedicated RAM. It also only is the client that is affected. My desktop, browser, etc are all non-affected by these issues. Same goes on my crappy laptop. Desktop is fine but the client is spazzing out.

That's why it's nothing to do with memory leaks. My friend suggested that 64-bit SK has sequential performance drops that led to the freezing that occurs in all 64-bit SK users.

It was a memory leak.

It was a memory leak.

Little to nothing was fixed

I'm still having issues, the memory used for Spiral Knights java is still 750k+ and I'm using 32-bit version.

Even with my poor man's version of a laptop, I used to play this game well on full screen, that's all a thing of the past now.

System Model: Inspiron N4010
Processor: Intel Core i3 CPU M380 @ 2.53GHz (4 CPIs), ~2.5GHz
Memory (RAM): 4.00 GB
Video Card: Intel HD Graphics
OS: Windows 7

Switch to 64-bit. You see how much better it is performance wise. Also your Intel HD graphics GPU is really weak (especially since it's the very first gen of the series) not to mention your CPU is also really weak. Having no dedicated GPU makes that 4GB of RAM not enough since your Intel HD graphics will be using the RAM too.

Playing games on that i3 with no dedicated graphics card and too little RAM is really straining your laptop and after update to update the game grows larger making it require more processing power to run smoothly. (Not to mention it grows more inefficient since it's based on Java)
