Copying Text in Mail

Surely this has been suggested already... maybe in a different way. But I think the text in mails should be able to be highlighted so that you can copy and paste it. I guess it wouldn't only be something useful for mail, but chat log as well...since some have suggested wanting to be able to keep chat logs.
