We were told it was going to be coming last year, then it got pushed back to January, and now it's well into March and we still don't have it.
What gives, OOO?

Well, at least they're not giving us false hope anymore. I hope this update introduces new armor for Gunners, or at least a Gunslinger-specific shield that doesn't get cracked in T3 just by getting sneezed on.
I'm still waiting for them to announce when they're going to open the Core.

They were working on the tortodrone update at the same time, and are probably working on a different feature alongside it?
IMO, they made a terrible mistake of announcing a release date before it was done (instead of as it was coming down to the end or already done/ready to test). Cause players overhyped it and this happens.
