I already got blackened crest so don't tell me to get that. Fang of Vog has a pretty good fire chance which is good for me, but it seems weak from looking at the bars. Ancient armor has super high resist, but I don't know if I should get taht instead of FoV

Get any piece of the Ancient set, then sell it to one of the NPC Vendor's just north of Brinks (assuming you're in the Haven Bazaar). This will get you 30000 Crowns.

Other than Blackened Crest, most of Vana's rewards are pretty terrible.

Get ancient and wear it with the tortodrone shell. Doing so will make you extremely tanky, which always works out in Spiral Knights.

This is why people wear chaos everywhere.

If you want to force yourself how to play conservatively, Ancient Plate is the best for you. You learn how to not overextend yourself, or you die or something.

Do note that FoV regular slashes only deal Moderate Fire, while the charge attack deals Strong Fire. Do also note that the 2nd combo strike has a +.5 block range and the 3rd combo strike has a +1 block range (in comparison to similar attack-pattern weaponry).

I have a fully heated set of Ancient Plate and I like to use it with my Triglav and Fang of Vog. I don't use my Blackened Crest (and thus haven't upgraded it)

FoV sucks unless you have at

FoV sucks unless you have at least 8-10 pts of fire resist.

Ancient gear is the worst option, or one of them, for PvE.

Get FoV if you want a crappy weapon that badly, or get 30k from.ancient stuff

Actually gonna throw this stuff a bone

If you're by some miraculous chance able to heat an Ancient armor piece to Lv 10 and equip it with a Lv 10 BKC/Chaos Hood, you can actually be a pretty threatening and sturdy target in Lockdown (with addition to other stuff like ASI UVs and Pentas of course). Otherwise, it's bad and you shouldn't use it seriously.

FoV has an incredibly devastating charge attack too, I believe it can one-shot a Trojan like a Blitz without the immobility on Elite if you have enough DMG bonus, if not kill, put them in critical condition. Otherwise, it's bad and you shouldn't use it seriously.

...you could also just sell Ancient stuff for 30k crowns, cause crowns are always nice.

yes

Fang of Vog is an interesting sword: Weak damage, but fire frequently, and a super-colossal charge attack. It is very fun. Once you have it, you can convert the rest of your Almirian Seals to crowns, as others have explained. If you end up not liking Fang of Vog, then you can convert that to crowns too.

Get FoV

Get FoV just for the sake of having it. It's a neat collection item and it's interesting to use as it's one of the two double edged sword weapons in the game. Plus once you get one, you have no reason to have another, so you can sell Ancient Plate stuff forever after.

I summon Google

FoV's charge attack = http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/double-edged%20sword

Can really help you with (near) instant kills, but it can also wreck you with the fire status if you're not careful.
