What's the best control setup for LD
Say for example I'm using keypad and mouse
Should I move with wasd and use mouse for direction
Or should I use the mouse for movement and direction together.
We could discuss other setups as well

WASD - Move North/West/South/East
C, Left click - Defend (Shield/Cloak/Boost)
E, Right click - Attack
Q, Space, Scroll up, Scroll down - Weapon 1/2/3/4
F - Dash
Not set - Toggle Auto Target
Edited: Wrote Right instead of Left and vise versa. It is now corrected.
Gamepad master race wins! Dual sticks with triggers for attack/defend, LB for mod, RB for AT toggle, face buttons for weapons, mod+RT dash.
Dash could actually just be LB but screw that I play PvE too.
Gamepad is indeed master race, but here's my controls.
Left stick: movement
Right stick: aiming
L bumber: shield(cancel)
R bumber: attack
L trigger: prev weapon
R trigger: next weapon
A button: dash.
I don't know.....
Ppl say that moving with mouse is better because you can aim while moving easier and you can 'bumblebee' with a toothpick more easily as well. Because strikers move faster when facing forward so if you move with mouse you will always face forward.
Ay benefits in using wasd and facing with mouse aside from it being easier.
(My previous control could let me play one handed with just a mouse :p
Move left click
Defend middle mouse click
Attack right click
Change wep scroll mouse) although it's really a hard to master.
Using a game pad is much easier and convenient I heard but unfortunately I don't have one ;(
i knew i taught feyi well
but map dash to the right stick being pushed in (R3) and a to weapon slot 1, and you have my controller setup
Using just mouse for moving and attacking makes gunning impossible. And honestly its hard to survive in LD without guns when you're low on boost. People who use the mouse movement setup also use wasd when they need to gun(like vokster for example). Although moving with the mouse could be move efficient I guess. There's just some tricks which are worth mastering without the mouse movement too
WASD movement when not boosting
Attack: Left Click
Move: Right Click (boosting)
Weapons 1,2,3: q,e,c or spacebar/scrollwheel to cycle
shield/boost: X
dash: F
As others have said, it'll mainly be up to personal preference. Personally, I use:
Rmouse - attack
Lmouse - shield
WASD - movement
Space - weapon 1
Lshift - weapon 2
Mouse thumb button - weapon up
Lctrl - move forward
Mmouse - dash
General idea is left hand for movement, right hand for aim. Having individual keybinds for weapons feels really smooth, and I prefer they be keys that aren't under a finger used for something else. Mouse thumb button as weapon up is strictly for Alchemer switching. From what I've seen, WASD movement overrides move-forward movement; for my controls holding Lctrl and using WASD moves as if Lctrl isn't being held. So it's probably viable to switch back and forth on the fly, I'm not fast enough though ._.
My preferred controls for SK gameplay:
Mouse-
-Cursor>Aim
-Left Click>Attack
-Right Click>Shield
-Scroll Wheel Up/Down>Switch Weapon
Keyboard-
-WASD>Movement
-Arrow Keys>Directions(Only used for spasm dancing)
-Space>Dash
-Left Alt>Shield Bash (LD Unused)
-Q Key>HUD Lock
-L Key>Loadouts
-I Key>Inventory
-P Key>Toggle Autotarget (Unused)
The shield bash and the AT Toggle are unused because you can't shield bash in LD and my AT is broken. Mouse usage is also preferred because you can aim your attacks while moving. Switch shooting is also easier with a mouse.
That's my 2 cents. :)
@helios yes I figured out it was hard to gun when using mouse movement when I tried today but I played with a sword MUCH better
Also could you expand on which tricks are worth mastering :3
Good idea I think I should have a mix of both maybe just keep one button for moving forward (@notheanswer how about keeping your moving forward button closer to your wasd so you can switch playstyle faster)
Aim-Mouse
Attack-RMB/Z
Move-LMB
Shield-X
Dash-Lshift+X
That's all for today folks.
Edit 1
I am planning to buy a gamepad that works for my Xbox and PC both after my exams.
Well for me the best setup is using wasd to move and mouse to show direction attack and defend. I also have every weapon attached to a single key which allows me to never make mistakes with weapon switches(used to be a nightmare with prev/next wep when I had 4 weapon loadouts).
I hear some other people use the mouse for movement and direction(they use move forward thing). And it seems to be quite successful too. Overall though I don't think there's a "best" setup for lockdown. It just depends on how you use your own.
