Stun : Bane of all strikers?

So recently I've been farming some krogmo coins to get all the Haze bomb line recipes for my Swagger storm and lately, I've been doing some inspecting.

My conclusion - Many strikers don't have a lot of stun protection compared to shock and fire resistance.

''Stun is a status condition that will slow any action the victim tries to take. Both movement and attack speed are reduced significantly.''

'Significantly' >:3 ; In Lockdown, it drastically decreases a recon's cloak, makes a guardian shield all the time and strikers vulnerable to gangbangs. So a couple of questions.

1. Would swagger storm, a fearless rigadoon or even a Magnus be quite good for a troll set?

2. Stun : The bane of all strikers?
(Although some may have a reduced time due to their small resistance, stun would definitely help get a couple of hits)

3. Stun : Will stop the Almighty-Contri?

1: Magnus is great for trolling, the rigadoon is worthless, swagger storm is actually pretty legit.

2: Not necessarily. Stun is the only status chaos and BKC have no negative resistance against, so it's possible to be completely immune for all loadouts.
Most strikers actually prefer stun resist over fire resist since being immobilized (shock/stun) is a lot more dangerous then taking damage.

3: Not even 6 polarii can stop him.

@ Feyi-Feyi Looks like I was right in picking Swagger Storm. Thanks for replying.

A lot of players actually have stun resistance due to using BKC+Ancient Plate. A high UV gives minor immunity and high+medium or max+low gives moderate immunity when wearing Ancient Plate.

Aye sir.

I'll let you in on one of my loadouts. It's an all round ASI loadout.

Gear: Snarb cap fire high, vog coat (ashwalker)

Weapons: FF ASI med, vali, swagger storm.

Since I'm a striker (ctr for bombs decrease vh) with low ctr and no chaos and not even a fully heated bomb it takes ages to charge fully, still it's really fun to use and a lot of people just walk into the haze allowing you to tear them up. It's a really basic loadout which gives you good insight in the fundamentals of LD, does a decent 13-15k dmg.

This especially works amazing when you're walking together with a guardian bomber who can handle himself like my man Thody. I'd recommend getting a bit of heating done though.

Stunning strikers is only a good strategy if you have at least one person for backup. The weapon slot you're taking up with a stun weapon, whatever it may be, would be better filled by something else unless you have at least part of a team to help you take out stunned enemies. If it's a 1v1 situation, stun might keep you alive for a few more seconds but it probably won't give you enough time to outright kill your opponent.

1) Funny enough, I have a loadout with all 3 (and different sets of either gun or sword ASI trinkets, depending on which weapon I want to consider my main). It's entertaining, but the magnus line is way awkward to play with unless you're charging. Stagger+Rigadoon is pretty solid though. I'd pick either a hail driver or storm driver as a sidearm, to cover immunities or destroy the poor souls that enter your web.
2) Any status is the bane of strikers. In general play, yes, it's nice, but in higher level play, you'll run into people who have different immunities, so you need to be able to juggle vs different status immunities.

---------

Here's input from a recon main:

I noticed from watching other recons that toothpicks were a pretty good sword choice (quick, wide first swing), so when I (after almost 2 years O.O) finally made a toothpick, I went with Rigadoon, because Recons just cannot chase. When it stuns, it's amazing. Aside from close range stun making it easier to follow up hits safely it also makes boost less effective. If they run away but run out of gas, that gives you time to charge a bomb. If they run out of gas before they can get away, it keeps them in range for an easy deathmark (if you don't already know, recon can STRIP ALL YOUR PHYSICAL DEFENSE). Slow and defenseless is a pretty good combination, imo.

As far as sniping with Magnus/Callahan, the charge's stun is a nice added bonus for any teammates that are in range to finish for you (assuming you're shooting from below), but the charge animation makes you lose about a second of time to take advantage of the stun.

If you're used to taking on people with just FF + vali, then the 3rd stun slot is just a bonus for when you're feeling frisky. If taking people on with just your FF+vali isn't any problem, then the stun status will only make the kill a lot easier for you.

Well, you meet the occasional idiot who runs around in APM (AKA me), with stun bomb resist.

But overall stun ids a good status. However, it makes the enemy slightly less preeictable, so you have to be careful if fighting stunned swordsmen.

Lets do a test to find out. *murders Contri with Fearless Rigadoon.*

The answer is yes.

WRONG

If anything, stun, shock, or freeze makes people more predictable. They'll just combo spam their weapon (usually heavy sword line) until the status wears off.

Generalizations like that

Generalizations like that typically dont apply, tbh. With dash, feinting, and QSI Mqx, stun is barely a hindrance. Very easy to dodge.

And fpcus on stun, not the other two statuses that this thread isnt about.

Might be easier for gunners though

1 yes
2 no. many people (including me) can still beat people up while in stun
3 yes. a unheated flourish can kill that pony

Any brandish line weapon, Acheron in particular.
They're not that hard to aim on someone who's immobilized, and brandishes are ridiculously OP in terms of DPS.
