Why I hate all of you!

Well today was the first time I had some time off work in ages. Weather was dull so doing something outside seemed pointless. Seeing as I had the whole day to myself I decided to sort out some family things and then play some Spiral Knights. Normally I would venture into FSC, but today I thought lets do some arcade!

So after over a year I finally started a new run in the arcade from depth 19 to the core! But little did I know OOO had added a new type of monster......the Glop Drops! These little things are the most annoying type of monster in the entire game! Seriously they spawn all over the place and throw in a few Devilites and Silkwings plus trying to manoeuvre around spikes and fire is no easy task. Although I managed to survive their onslaught I shall never forget the Glop Drops!

Using only a Sentenza and Blitzneedle with SSB and Chaos set didn't help either. Next time I'm taking some bait....I mean friends with me. I'll also take my Gran Faust and destroy every Glop Drop in the game! No longer shall they try to claim a knights soul!

yeah, try the Faust

Heavy weapons are your best way around those little buggers. Compound levels are so annoying and the itty bitty enemies do SO MUCH DAMAGE in large numbers.

Crowd control.
The larger the attack range, the better.
GF fits that criteria.
Blast bombs have an even larger attack range.
Blast bombs make compounds too easy. Nitronome OP.

Logic :P

Oh come on, the glop drops aren't bad at all. You just need to bring some sort of area of effect item to take care of them... The real terror is that the level takes a while and doesn't have boxes, so it feels like a waste of time after you complete it.

But the Glop Drops are the easiest of the three trash mobs...

Dust Bunnies are pitiful. Glop Drops are surprising, but easy to kill with bombs. But those Scarabs, those stupid Scarabs. A line of them rushing down the hall with more behind is almost unstoppable unless you have a full team of Brandish spammers; otherwise they just get pushed back a little and keep charging. THE HORROR.

I don't know man, they try so hard that I just can't help but let my guard down at how adorable they are.

This just in, Tier 1 monsters have devastated the Vanguard army and have slain the whole of the Hall of Heroes. Snipes seem to be the only creature capable of nullifying the cuteness-scale. Meanwhile, the sole survivor of the Vanguards has single-handedly destroyed all of Tier 3. We'll keep you live and pos-awww a little bunny, it's so cute. It could hurt me, could it? Now nOWWWWWWWWWW!

Well, what did you honestly expect when you stop fighting zombies. You've done it so much it's all you know how to do. Bringing fsc gear everywhere doesn't help either lol.

Some vortex bomb + Sword charge attack/biohazard/Neutralizer pretty much curbstomp compounds. If only most of the player base just decided to have a taste of something else other than the average chaos loadout. Oh well.

Don't mess with a bunny!

Dust Bunnies have got sharp pointy teeth. Best handled with Dark Briar Barrage, but a sword like Flourish or SUUUUUDAAAAA can do the job as well.

...Vortex+Neutralizer + Chaos are part of my main FSC loadout lol.

@Arcknightdelta:
Heavy weapons are definitely useful for them. If you're using a max CTR loadout and have a max-level Nitronome, you can actually bomb in-place and they won't be able to reach you at the center of the blast, provided that you maintain the rhythm. Nitronome was pretty much key for me soloing Grinchlin Assault: it's so safe, it's great lol.

Actually, almost all the bombs are amazing against those mobs. I actually smiled a bit when they first came out because even though bomb DPS couldn't match the other weapons in small groups, the swarm monsters provide the perfect kind of situations where bombs have their niche. It's kind of along the lines of some game design ideal I had in mind, where weapon balance is determined more from their situational applications than just their DPS.

Cute little bunnies that kill.........These are no bunnies! They are the offspring of the Jelly King!

Thanks for the tips. But my hate for them is still strong. These bunnies though......are they equally as annoying? Lol you miss so much if you have done all missions and never did arcade since these new monsters came out. Although I hate them my love for playing SK has grown!

On a side note. Any pure gunners out there? What's your setup for these Glop Drops?

Though I'm not a pure gunner, I am a decent one.

Against Glop Drops something like an Umbra Driver could work. It can bounce off a bunch of Glops as long as it doesn't simply bounce back. If you can keep your distance, a Sentenza charge attack can be good due to it's bird plowing over the Glops.

As for the meaning of the thread: Irontech Destroyer. Glop Drops are too slow to see what's coming. The Big Angry bomb probably works great too but I'll know once I finally get that. In a few years... For any other mini: Nitronome!

Edit: I almost forgot to mention the Biohazard! Wow, that's my favorite gun too. It works amazing against any group of minis unless they are the scarabs. then go grab a Neutralizer.

I dunno if OOO intended it, but the Compound levels are perfect for bombs. Take a DBB to deal with Dust Bunnies and a Nitronome to deal with Glops or Scarabs. They'll barely touch you if you keep up a good rhythm.

Dunno how Irontech Destroyer or Big Angry Bomb work, though. Probably well enough (especially since the BAB knocks enemies into next week), but I haven't actually tried those because I don't like the huge walking penalty we get while charging.

@Midnight-Dj

Psh, I find HoI so much less annoying ever since I started using my DBB on it. If you have a friend in your party who also uses DBB decently, it gets even easier.

Also, taking a Dread Skelly Shield instead of a SSB or a Crest of Almire is pretty good too :p

Have you ever felt the satisfaction of killing a dozen Glops in a single Acheron charge? Combuster or Voltedge works just as well for Scarabs.

Biohazard, Umbra driver.

Catalyzers are good for mobs that clump together (aiyoooo glop drops), Alchemers are good for monsters that are starting to come together but aren't together (because then you can shoot between them and get ricochet action).

Storm Driver is a decent other choice (if they're not shock themed), because not only does it stop their movement periodically, but shock's effectiveness multiplies with more enemies touching each other.

I don't think the pulsar lines will be good for them as sheer numbers can block the shots before they become big.

Then again, I don't bring guns specifically for that monster, but to deal with the level theme (and if it's a clockworks stage, I'll bring more variety, because danger rooms tend to troll you and pick a theme that's opposite of the effective type on that stage >:{ )

The pulsar lines' charge attack can actually be pretty nifty in close ranged combat. That's what I do when I'm fighting glop drops with it.

Biohazard suffers from the classic blocked charge shot issue at times (where the one you charged happens to be behind the ones that aren't charged), so I'd rather just umbra driver them.

Thanks for the tips.

My generic load out is

Full Chaos
SSB (fsc) then depending on the arcade level any from CoA, Owlite or BTS
Polaris
Sentenza
Blitzneedle
Nova Driver
Gun Damage Trinket
Penta Heart Pendant

I had trouble with the Glop Drops because they literally spam swarm all over you (plus my 1st time encountering them). That combined with those pesky silkwings, devilites, healers and a few lumbers really messed me up. For now I'll work on a Nitro and maybe a vortex bomb. I guess they would be very fun to use in these situations.

I bet a pet would also help? Still yet to choose one lol. Will be going for Sepharynx due to that awesome aura it has.

I don't know if this is for all sprites, but when I got mine to lvl 50 it got the "Quick Draw" perk (ASI). So that would be pretty helpful for you since your a pure gunner. :D

Oh wow! I believe all pets have a random chance at getting perks. So I may not get that one correct? Your very lucky if it is all random. That is an awesome perk to have!

Sort of.

The charges can detonate each other (though it's a little flaky in that the charge balls need to be pretty close to each other), so as long as you can get one, an explosion can either trigger or set them apart to let you walk in and detonate the others.

Also, for general use (because of teammates and all), you generally shouldn't be trying to charge more than twice in a row.
