Hi everyone

I'll make this brief, then see what you guys have to say.

Spiral Knights without a doubt has become something we have all grown to love. Not every game can boast such an incredible fan base and an awesome development team. There aren't that many games out there that have those 'special' moments every time we click play and start playing. Spiral Knights is definitely up there for me as one of my all time favourite games. It is something I will be very sad to never be a part of when I decide to finally call it quits.

As current players how do you feel Spiral Knights has grown. How has it 'evolved'? Yes it has been a roller coaster ride since 2011 but do you think your love for this game has diminished, stayed the same or increased? Please share your thoughts. Be honest. Have you enjoyed all the events? Have you taken offence to the lack of content in a certain area of the game? Or are you one of those people who just puts up and gets on with it?

Can't wait to read what you think.

Every time I play...

Right when I was introduced to this game, I instantly fell in love with it. The whole fighting scheme to Spiral Knights turned out to be exactly what I wanted.
6 months ago, I played the game less and less - unfortunately - and had come to lose interest in it. But every time since I have logged on and played, I wonder to myself, "Why haven't you played this game in a while? It's awesome!" And every time this happens, my love for this wonderful game is reborn in all of its splendor.

"Spiral Knights without a doubt has become something we have all grown to love."-Arc
And some grown to hate it due to all the stupid boxes and updates that are meaningless. I don't have to go through everything to tell you that not everyone is happy with OOO's descision.

"Not every game can boast such an incredible fan base and an awesome development team."-Arc
Incredible Fanbase? Yes, Awesome development team? Not so much, bring us the gunner update or go home.

I have been here since late 2012, I saw the destruction of mist and CE, and I saw a lesser evil taken its palce (*cough forge *cough). I see people like Draycos, Fangel and You thinking that with your power alone you can make a change in the game, and I remembered just how futile your pathetic attempt ultimately was. No offense, but OOO is just like that, what makes you think your voice ever worthed a damn to them?

I was never here for Grinchlin assualt and march of tortodrone, I mean, seerusly? Why would I waste so many spark, time and CE for something as meaningless as trashy shields and a ring that is hardly worth the time? I still play SK for what it is, and that is that. But trying to make a name for my self in a game such as this is hardly worth the time. But with that said, SK did help me improve my drawing skill, making fan art for this game has marked a monumental landmark for my drawing technique. So kudos to you OOO for helping me improve in those aspect.

Cheers,

Midnight-Dj

The biggest thing that makes

The biggest thing that makes this game stick out for me is the character design and art style. When I first saw the advertisement for the game (that .jpg of the "Play Now" on the homepage to be precise.) I was all like "OMG HOLY IUERHVIUERHIVUHEUIGHVOUIH. WUSSEAH?! HE LOOKS SO KOOL!!"

The rest is history. :D

There were halcyon days

Certainly diminished over the years, it's been very unfortunate to witness a consistent dive in how the team has approached the game and its additions/changes (or often, lack thereof). The refreshing moments have long ended up being too distanced to cross over into positive effect. While the rest of my pals that I set out with stopped playing ages ago, I do simply put up with it and resolved to just see if things eventually happen.

Only when Gotham is in ashes do you have my permission to fix my quote. On a more serious note, I didn't find forge either necessary or well-thought out.

Wow.

Leave it to legendary Wall Mage Arcknightdelta to make a thread that will most likely conjure more walls of texts. Oh, the horrid walls of text.

-Generic Subject Line-

I must say, after my entire gaming experience being games like runescape or TF2 my whole life, when I was introduced to SK (wanted that TF2 hat), my reaction was one of wonder and amazement.

When I first joined, I couldn't get enough of this brilliant game. I played missions every day as efficiently as I could to save mist, and when that had run out, I would just spend time in the advanced training hall for hours having fun with strangers as we did fun stuff like how you used to be able to ride the gates in the advanced training hall. Some guy invited me to his guild and I stayed there for maybe a day before leaving, I just didn't see the point in it, but a few weeks later I was invited to join Lux E Tenebris...and that is where my SK story really begins. Lux E Tenebris was a wonderful coming together of, in my opinion, some of the best people in the game, and I don't necessarily mean skill wise, but in the character of the people. They helped me eventually reach my goal of becoming a vanguard, and over that time my sense of novelty and child-like wonder only grew. There was about a 2-3 month period where I could not access SK and I came back to find the guild had, to my dismay, died. Without a guild was no way to play the game for me, so probably the one stroke of good luck I have had in my life kicked in and I found out about Knights of Equestria, the all brony guild that was and still is really active and fun, and I have been in this guild ever since. Early on, I was hooked with SK's storyline, and I still am, and has been one driving point of my continued playing.

So, with that out of the way, has my interest in Spiral Knights diminished? Is my view of the game starting to lose color and slip into gray? Am I starting to just give up on this game like many others already have? Not in the slightest. While yes, the game isn't that novel and brilliant thing as it used to be due to the fact that this happens with everything, and yes, I have been playing significantly less than I used to, my interest in this game has not waned. I have been getting dissapointed with OOO over the last year for thier poor descisions regarding hype trains leaving the station early and thier non-stop spamming of "givememoneykthxbai" promotions, but I can understand OOO's enthusiasm and need for cash. Though I haven't been playing all that much over the last 4-6 months due to a bit of boredom, I have been keeping that light alive by using Spiral Knights for inspiration in my personal artistic endeavors, as well as the few things I release to the public(I keep most of my art and all of my music to myself because I'm not confident I'm good enough yet). By incorporating the game I love most into the talents I treasure most has only increased my enthusiasm and satisfaction with both and has made me a generally happier person as a result.

tl;dr - I had and still have a love for this game, but I'm more expressing that love for it through external means nowadays than actually playing the game.

Spiral Knights will forever hold a special place in my heart, even when one day(may it not be anytime soon) the game shuts down, that ember will continue to glow within me, its warmth and dull glow which were once an intensely fanned flame will continue to show its impact on me through the work that I do.
...
wow that was sappy.

This game is a one of a kind MMO, and I truly want the best for this game.

I'm starting to wonder, do you guys remember when Sega officially backed there game and they no longer had to worry about income and sega started posting spiral knight updates on there blog.

well recently like after the danger promotion I think they stopped doing that, there hasn't been a single acknowledgement from Sega about Spiral Knights updates.

I kinda wonder if Sega stopped supporting them or something... It might explain the abundance of cash grab promotions.

But this is all speculation so take this all with a grain of salt or something, however some GM conformation would be pretty cool!

WELCOME TO THE POST APCOLPSE SPIRAL KNIGHTS 2014!

I loved to play spiral knights. The dev always seem to have some thing ahead of us, Until I becam 5star everything is boring. Then the promos happened,I eventually got bored of doing FSC and arcade. Tortodrone was very very disappointing for me, it seems to be some way OOO used to calm us down from the gunner update. Most of the updates in 2014 where events and promos. Ever since sega brought OOO spiral knights became more of a profi grab type of game.

@ Shadow-Warlock; I swear this is how I feel! You're not alone mate.

@ Midnight-Dj; I was hoping you would have posted your lyrics :(

@ Dermog; The art design and that zelda sort of feel when you see monsters get killed, that purple effect :)

@ Poomph; WALL OF FIRE TEXT OF DESTRUCTION!!!

@ Rekkusu; Hmm...So Sega leaving are the reason for all these promos? I'm sure SEGA was the cause of problems from the day OOO joined forces with them. OOO were always better on their own IMO. Just imagine if OOO team up with Ubisoft! Epic Assassin Creed style weapons and armour!

@ Fastdinoturtle; Trust me getting to 5 star is tougher now than it was then. Now every time I want to make something to 5 star a promo comes and I focus all my time on that, rather than heating. All my funds go into promo items. Fun though.

Only been here for a month and a half.
Gonna be totally useless here and say: It's a great game, but I've missed more or less everything so I have no valuable input.

So

I remember the 1st time I logged in. I thought, "Blue, green and gold chapeaus for 10$ each? No gimmicks, you get CE and one of those items, period? Well there's no way I'll ever regret passing that up" This is really what I thought.

Back then there was no Lockdown and there were no Bombhead costumes to win in Blast Net. When they added them, along with Krogmo weapon recipes and coins, all bombheads were actually delivered unbound for the first day or so until they patched it. I always regretted actually getting one and binding it to me because I didn't know any better.

I vowed to quit the game if they ever offered Bombheads in featured auctions, yet here I am. Getting them all just isn't a priority anymore.

Reading this thread made me remember how GM's and Nick would show up in Haven wearing some crazy costume (like impersonating a snipe!) and everyone would come gather round from all over. I really miss that.
